Black/white flickering pixel artifacts at distance and on horizon

Recommended Posts

4.0ghz i7-6700, 16gb 3200mhz RAM, Nvidia GTX 1080, running at the best settings with unlimited objects/view.  Sharpening on (also have had it off), full screen at 1080p.

Getting these black/white flickering pixel artifacts showing up in the distance.  Usually on the horizon, especially when low to the water.  Can also appear on land as seen in the A-20 screen. I also tried a 1pm scenario to test lighting and there was plenty of that stuff on the horizon.

Could it be because I am using a Samsung 47'' TV as a monitor? Low pixel density or something? It looks like from pictures of simpits, plenty of people have gone this route.

Does anybody else see these artifacts?

I doesn't seem to be part of the Nvidia-specific graphics problems.  My game runs great overall.

Yeah i have the same problem! Im getting weird flickering and snow like white pixels. Im thinking its the latest graphic drivers from Nividia. Ive tried everything with the settings.Went to low settings, Medium, V sync off and on. Different resolution. At first i though it was my video card and i was not happy. Ive tried other games and just sitting at my desktop its totally fine. Either i think we might have to roll back to drivers or they need a patch for the Current Gen video cards.

Same problem, came with a patch (like 3.00 something, don't have that before)

Desinstall Nvidia drivers, reinstall last one... Nothing change

@F/JG300_Egon strange, I have done nothing but installing the last update (3006) end the horizon is now totally free of flickering!

Still here after new update.  If I turn off HDR it goes away now...but HDR is pretty. :(

Reviving old post here - but yes, the only time I notice flickering is only under these parameters...

1. At night

2. Right on the horizon

Flashes of white. It’s intermittent and very quick but noticeable. I too thought of distant battles but no, if I pan around in VR it’s the entire horizon acting this way. And yeah, I’m running the latest drivers and did a manual install when I did it. Don’t notice it during the day at all.

Super sampling in Nvidia panel provoke this.

Posted (edited)

That basically works!  The DSR (Dynamic screen resolution or Supersampling) in the Nvidia Control panel is what was doing it for me. I had mine set to 150%, turned it off, and now I only see the tiniest of flickers on the horizon if my plane is in the water, and I do not see any on the Kuban mountains anymore.

Note:  It is not Transparency Supersampling in Nvidia Inspector settings.  The DSR in the stock Nvidia Control.

Thanks!  HDR looks so much better!

The DSR was and is OFF for me, and as I said, desactivate the Transparency Supersampling make the flickering disappear for me.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but this issue has been coming back for me as well as the smoke stacks flashing yellow.

Does anyone has a workaround or a clue as to what might be triggering this (at least the black and white pixels on the horizon wyhen low or at night)?

It might just be a reoccuring glitch but back in the days I had it removed somehow. Maybe HDR?

Thanks to all, will try different settings in the meantime.

I'm having the same problem.  Turning off HDR seems to fix it but then I have no HDR.  Sadness....
