How To Make Rear Gunner Work?

I was flying a mission in an IL2 variant with a rear gunner.  I switched to rear gunner position correctly, but I tried moving and firing the turret gun with my game controller (Saitek X55 HOTAS) but nothing happened.  The mouse doesn't operate the rear gun either.  What am I doing wrong?  How do I operate the rear gun?

You need to press T to start using the gun. Press Shift-T to aim down the sights.

Take Turrent:  T

Nestle to gunsight:  LEFT SHIFT and T

Just an observation, however, I've noticed that when the developers ask a question or request information that is out there, you almost do back-flips providing chapter and verse with the requested help, rather than a just "look in this book" reply.  However, when it is a mere mortal, you appear to be very dismissive, however, perhaps it is just me!

 

That said, at least you could have provided Trek with a link as otherwise it appears rather pointless you even answering!

My thanks to all.  I didn't know there was a manual.    Special thanks to Haza for the links.  By the way, I love your country.  I've been to Melbourne and Sydney.  Just a taste of your country but very much enjoyed being there.  I"ve only been to Canberra in FSX and P3D V4.2.  ☺️

The main drawback of the rear gunner is that, when you're attacked and you switch position it automatically makes the gunner to put down his machinegun so you loose several seconds in the process and you die.
