Game 'borrowing' my plane - bug or feature?

So I learned about the solar eclipse of 21st September 1941 (thanks @ShamrockOneFive for that cool bit of info.) and wanted to experience it for myself. I cooked up a simple mission in the STEditor and flew around in a 109 F-4 for a bit until the sun popped up. So far, so normal.

But, a few times I lost control of my plane as the game seemed to corral me away from where I was heading. After a short period I was dropped back in and could fly as usual.  I checked the map to see if I was out of bounds, but I had easily 30 km left before I reached the edge.

Any ideas why this happened?

Yes, sorry that information might help! Autumn in particular.

No, it has nothing to do with the season, it’s just that you can’t fly over the easternmost part of the map (to prevent direct flyovers of Moscow) Therefore you appear to be turned back too early.

Good to know, thanks.

Yes, it looks great! I started the mission at 6:30 am (just before sunrise) and it was just enough time to get in the air and mess around a bit before the event started.

It puzzles me, and at the same time makes me sad, that this kind of detail is possible in a combat flight simulador, not to mention the superior flight Dynamics, and I could never experience it in those expensive civil flightsims and accompanying add-ons….

In X-Plane we can't even have proper Sun ephemeris, and we can totally Forget about the Moon unless it's a date somewhere along 2013 ?

MSFS had the ephmeris ok, but didn't replicate this type of "phenomena"... And again, not to mention their flight Dynamics...

That's what brought this old simmer to the Glorious World of IL-2 Forgotten Battles ?

I always thought combat sims> civilian sims.

Man, I would pay hundreds to this company if they ever make a civilian sim. I did with XP11, and feel like regretted. But im not regretted at all in spending 70 bucks in BoB, a project that is not even finished, because I know these guys are doing an excellent job.

Maybe they turn into civilian sims someday?... I have no idea, but I gonna be a sure customer if that happens
