Multiple missions per day

Is there a reason why we can't fly multiple missions per day like itoday really was?

The game career has it.

Thanks

Only that it is a restriction in the current code base.  I would have to convert everything that looks at a date (thousands of items) and convert them to a date/time.

Wow, that sounds like a major hassle to try to get through. I can see why it's not a feature.

I've been hoping to learn Javascript at some point. Maybe in the (distant) future I could take a look at it and try to figure it all out?

It's not really that hard to figure out as much as it is hard to identify and change all of the hundreds of places where dates are used and change them to time stamps.  Most things like squadron moves, transfers, etc. can be defaulted to "midnight".  Other things like missions, victories, ace related events, time advance, etc. would really have to be converted to date/time.  Then the testing.  Each change is relatively small, but the number of changes and additions to test variations make this a very large task.  It is also not the sort of thing that can be managed gradually.  Once you start the changes you have to go all in.

Good to know. Effectively make all the changes at once and then try to fix as errors appear?

I need to do more with PWCG in general before I can probably start doing anything. I don't even know if you fly rebasing sorties or not!

I think I have my hands full with one mission per day.

Ha true dburne! Survival on the Eastern front one mission per day is all the challenge I can handle.

One thing about PWCG is that there is much more contact than there would have been in real flights.  Something like 80% of flights result in contact.  Further, the AI is much more intent on fighting, leading to much higher losses in a PWCG (or 1C ) mission than there would have been in real life.  In effect PWCG is mostly skipping the missions where you don't see anything.

I have had time to fly and have been getting into a career.  I started in Me110s and one month later moved to 109s.  I am less than 2 months in with 38 air to air victories.  Call it 20 per month.  At that rate I will have more than 500 by the end of the war.  IMHO that's plenty.

Yes, that is true, and that is something that PWCG simulates far better than the base campaign.

Perhaps it would be easier to keep the one a day flights, but change it so that the game has a range of "flights simulated" per day between 5-8 where nothing happened. I know you can set a fixed "flights between missions," but making that a random "per day simulated" might be better.

Hi all, has the pwcg been updated?

Can we fly multiple missions per day?

Can we have the no contact missions, too, please?

Because for the emersion feeling a player should not be able to shot so fast so many airplanes down.

It is much more pleasant to have the squadron return home alive and play the ironman no death streak than counting hundrets of kills in no time.

Hi Rudini - @PatrickAWlson has stated in the past (see above) that multiple daily missions will not be a PWCG feature because it won't work within the dynamic background simulation built into the PWCG code.  However, the options do include the ability to count multiple missions for each one actually flown so that you can reflect multiple missions and non-contact missions in the totals reflected in pilot stats.  Also, I do encounter actual no contact missions in PWCG occasionally.

That said, with the trajectory of IL-2 and the new engine on the horizon, and based on things he has posted over the past couple of years, I don't think Pat is inclined to change anything you see in the basic way the program operates.  We are fortunate that he is still maintaining it for those of us who prefer it to the stock campaign.

Also, there are many sandbox type options within PWCG that can mitigate some of the issues you raise.  Here is a good thread discussing ways that several of us play PWCG to keep the numbers more historically accurate:
