As the title suggests, I'm trying to open one of my older missions. I don't have the *.mission file anymore, only the *.msbin file. If anyone can get the file opened in the editor, and resave it as an *.mission file; I would be grateful. I've tried resaver.exe, and the 'save all missions in folder' tricks. I'm out of ideas, and pretty frustrated with not being able to open it. Thanks in advance.

Same here, no luck.

If the mission is from before the last major change then you will absolutely need the .mission file in order to update it. There's unfortunately no way around it that I know of.

Thank you so much @Habu. But... how?

I always keep a backup from old versions, especially when there is a major version released. For your mission, i used an old beta version of December 2017. ?

So, to question this further - I have a bunch of missions I haven't touched in a while, and all of them still have the .mission file included.  Yet I cannot open any of them.  I get an "Error reading mission file" every time I try to open one.  All of these missions were created / worked on prior to the release of BoK.  Does this mean that they are essentially all lost and I have to start from scratch?

You have the *.mission files, then you just do a 'Resave All Missions in Folder' inside the Mission Editor, and you should be good to go.

Oh, that's awesome.  I had thought there was something like this somewhere in the editor but I'd been looking for it in the wrong place.  Thank you so much!
