ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I love this Sim, BUT, I don't have load of time to play. So I do a quick mission, I blast away, usuall 4 x 2 enemy aircraft, say Heinkels and Ju.87, I love the Aircobra, Excellent results if you can hit them right, however, regardless of aircraft, I just can't win. Could we alter the scoring model please? I knock down 3, may be 4, and thenI 'TARAN' That one that was getting away, (TARAN, The honourable art of hitting the invader with your own aircraft, and hope you have enough time/height to bale out) Not always successful.... So....Failed. .....even if I almost sacrifised myself..really! Come on, I gave it my best shot, AND no one ever really got 100% on each mission. Could we make it say 60%.....hit/damage/destroy/divert/cheese off, 60% of the opposition...SUCCESS.! PLEASE. Been meaning to ask for this for ages. Wonderful sim, I really lose myself in this if I've had a 'bad day' at work! Thank yo for your efforts, and no hard feelings if it cannot be done Fllyingscotsman
Thad Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 (edited) You sound like one of those that think everybody should get a trophy just for participating. You probably like grading students on a curve too. ? Historical note: The Japanese had Kamikazi pilots. 99.99% of them died making such a sacrifice and Japan still lost the war. Nothing is fair in love or war even simulated war. Edited August 19, 2018 by Thad 2 2
dburne Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Not to make light of what you believe to be something more serious - but if you are only doing this in Quick Missions, does it really matter if your Kamikaze maneuver does not score a win? As long as you are having fun, why worry? Obviously the game's scoring system does not account for things like this.
CrazyDuck Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Simply ignore (close your eyes if you have to when the screen pops up :P) how your small silicon CPU friend decides to measure your success after a mission. If you knocked out 5 aircraft, last one with ramming, and survived - that's an outstanding success in my book.

The all stated that they felt elated and filled with joy (or words to that effect) at the prospect of giving their life for the Emperor.

A mixture of Saki and amphetamines might make me feel elated too. I am sure, however, that this could be a correct recollection. All the same, Japan was (and still to a lesser extent still is) a "shame" society, where stepping outside required behaviour could lead to harsh treatment for your entire extended family. It would take a very brave young man to say, post-war, that he had not been a volunteer but felt he had to try to go through with it because he felt that his family would be punished if he did not. @scotsmanFlyingscotsman I have found that the best way to play this type of game is to set your own goals and not worry too much about what the program says is "success". Works pretty well in life in general.... 4
F/JG300_Gruber Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 It didn't even crossed my mind that quick missions could be taken for anything else than shoot training or trying out a new released plane !

I think there were also a couple whose aircraft suffered engine failure during the climb out, made it back to land and never got called to go again, but I do not recall where I read that.

MasserME262 Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Well, I dont care at all the results of a QMB, yesterday at night I setted the situation being me flying 4K of altitude in a 190 A3 against 4 La5 flying at 2K, just to dive over them and practice aiming and dive attacks; shoted all them down, said "yay", and then finished the mission. I even skipped the display it appears when you finish the mission (where it says the results)... whats the point of it? I dont need (and dont deserve) any recognition, since it was a QMB. If its campaign or career mode... well thats another story

I am not even sure if the regular flyers did, at least the IJN ones, but the suicide missions set off from land airfields and if you had a failure on a climb up you might well be able to glide or limp back to land.
Cpt_Cool Posted August 22, 2018 Posted August 22, 2018 Didn't some of those guys even get welded in? Gives me the willies just thinking about it.
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted September 1, 2018 Author Posted September 1, 2018 (edited) Hi Guys, Been away getting parts of my body fixed, Thanks for the comments, some great some not, I was just asking. By the way I am military vet, almost 30 years service, decorated 3 times, so no I've never done anything of note and don't expect instant rewards. (But I served alongside hero's) It was just a game question, no big deal , I love the one to close my eyes at the end, haha I'll do that thanks. Enjoy the game everyone & thanks again to the Dev's for a brilliant sim Edited September 1, 2018 by scotsmanFlyingscotsman bad spelling
