[MOD] Mannable navigator position in A-20B (updated for 4.605)

Hi all,

 

Here's a little mod which allows you to enter the navigator/bombadier's position in the nose of the A-20B. You can't really do anything except look out of the windows, but the view is nice :)

The interior is quite low detail, as the model wasn't designed to have a player inside it.

VERY nice! The detail of the pit may not be great but this is a great beginning. I hope the Dev's take this further such as bombardier site mod or more.

What fun..It was pretty disappointing that the Havoc didn’t have this position available when first introduced.I hope eventually we’ll have detailed pit but this is a good stand-in in the meantime...thanks

whoa - WHAT is that guy doing in there!!?  This is what happens when the devs lock the little people in places no one is supposed to go!

 

I think having a fully realised nose position would have been a great and a fun thing for multi human crewing as well as single crewing - Arthurs vid shows it off nicely. . Sadly I suspect there are more than a few who will cry about its development being a waste of time and it'll never go further.. Each to their own I guess.

Just discovered this - very nice - always bugged me a little you couldn't man that spot - even with nothing to do except look out. Feels more complete now...:cool:

Install using JSGME, then the A-20 will basically have an extra gunner position (with no gun) for the navigator/bombadier position

Luuuuve this mod Murleen. Picking out landmarks is a HUGE improvement when doing navigation exercises. Thanks for your time do develop and share this.

Mine has stopped working.  At first I thought it might be a conflict between the 'Historically Accurate German Markings' Mod as it modify's the shared (?) files "data\swf\il2\worldobjects" and "data\swf\il2\worldobjects\planes".  But taking out the Historical Markings Mod did not did not activate the Navigator mod.  (I took both out, restarted the game then reactivated the Navigator mod w/o the Markings Mod).  The Historical Markings Mod still works though with or without the Navigator mod activated.

Is this a result of the latest update?  Does anyone else have this problem?  Is there is a fix?  I had fun watching the world go by from that station.

Hey @Murleen, I must be doing something wrong installing this mod. So I did the usual: created a 'mods' folder; drag and dropped the JSGME inside the main IL2 folder; dragged your mod inside the 'mods' folder; enabled it. 

 

It seems to do nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

And is the mods folder also in the main game folder and not a sub folder?

The mod works fine for me and that is how I installed and enable it.

Yes, the JSGME "mods" folder is right in the main il2 folder. I don't understand why it does not work.

It's possible that some of the game files have changed in the latest version to stop it working - I'll take a look when I get time

Be advised.

This mod no longer works for me in 4.009. ?  When enabled I get this screen in Multiplayer/Dogfight mode.

From this screen if I move my mouse my head moves.  Sometimes I cannot exit the game as the cursor won't go far right to the 'Exit Game' name.  Then I have to use Task Manager to exit the game.

This has only affected my Multiplayer modes when I either create or try and join a DF or Co Op Server.  No other modes are affected, Quick Mission/single/Campaign.

Once disabled everything go back to normal.

 

Your mileage may vary.

:good:THANK YOU SO MUCH!  I really liked the original and was sad to see it got broken.  I am very glad you were able to fix it. ✔️?

Plus you not only added flares but gave us more than the default number! :yahoo: This will be great for signaling the rest of the flight.

How do you switch to the position of the navigator's view ? I do Ctrl Left + C but it only switches from the pilot to the gunners !!!

By default the 'Left Control+C' key or whatever you have bound the command to move from the pilots seat to a gunners seat.  Essentially you are moving to another "gunners position".  It will be the first stop on your "position tour" of the A-20.

Have you installed the mod?  Mine works just fine using that key bind.

I know this may sound stupid but are Mods Enabled?

No apology needed.  I can't begin to tell you how many times I've forgotten to turn things on/off.

If one never made mistakes setting up the game one would be playing an arcade game.

I love this mod, but I am having trouble with the latest version activated through JSGME : in certain single missions that sometimes involve A-20’s and some that don’t I get a lock up during loading & an on screen warning of a “Lauscripts Error.” I have to quit the entire game to begin again. It took me quite a while to track this down to this Mod ( to be fair I don’t know if it is in conflict with another already JSGME activated mod- I’ve never tried it all by itself on JSGME. I don’t of one of the earlier iterations might still work- they used to with earlier versions on GB , but I assume they are obsolete by this time.

Could you look into this? That navigator position was a wonderful mod especially in low level Havoc missions!

Yeah, sounds like this needs updating for the latest version - I'll see when I can get some time to look at it.

I have and it's definitely something that was changed in the recent update.  This happened once before and was fixed, then something was "fixed" by an update and it doesn't work again.  I love the position and hope that it can be fixed.  On long runs to and from target I can set the plane on autopilot and just sit there enjoying the wonderful scenery.  It also helps with landing. ?
