Rhesus Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 (edited) Hey all, I have looked up a bunch of tutorials so far and I have learned how to make groups and copy/paste them between missions etc (and also set working groups etc) but I can't seem to figure out how to have a group show up in the "Groups" tab on the right hand side of the menu while editing...is there a way to do that? and have them persist between missions being edited? or at least remain there? Also, is there a list of blocks/buildings which have "ground crews" or animated characters/personnel around them? Edited August 4, 2018 by Rhesus
Thad Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 (edited) Click and drag across the group… group them, go to File. Select Save Selection To File. Name the group. Edited August 4, 2018 by Thad 1
F/JG300_Gruber Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 There is a little more to it : If you want them to appear in the Groups tab, they have to be saved in the Il2/data/mission folder (you can create a subfolder without problem) If you don't want them to appear there, create a custom folder in IL2/data or, what I'm doing, is putting them in a subfolder in the IL2/data/template folder. If you place a group from the groups tab, it will place them where you click If you load a group with the "import from file" function, it will place it at the same exact coordinates they were when you saved it (works as a template). Useful for custom airfield scenery when you wan't everything to appear at the right place from mission to mission.

I believe others answered your first question, so I'll tackle your second one. I haven't messed with making sure personal are walking around and stuff in a long while. However, I'm almost certain, but I could be wrong, that what you want is from these two blocks. art_position_amb1 art_position_amb2

I don't know if the devs have added any more objects with soldiers. Edited August 4, 2018 by JimTM
