However, I thought I'd demonstrate something I'm working on. That being a highly distressed Tiger exterior. An exterior that's been pummeled with small-arms and HMG fire, which is evident via the extreme pock marks denoted on the exterior armor sections. This is just a test, but a successful one. Are you doing this with the bumpmaps? VERY impressive! 2 1
Yankee_One Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 @ II./JG1_Vonrd from my knockledge yes, he is doing it with bumpmaps and made a fantastic work. Det released some skins, his work is incredible. You can find them on Tank Crew forum.
SCG_Neun Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 Many thanks DetCord for all your hard work and correspondence these past weeks on this.
Frenchy56 Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 Really nice. But, uh, where do I drop them?
THERION Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 12 minutes ago, Frenchy56 said: Really nice. But, uh, where do I drop them? Just unpack the archive in a temporary folder - here you will see a folder like "_pzvi-h1". Just copy that folder in your skins folder and you're done. No need to activate the mod option, you will see your new skins. But as for the bumpmap file (zimmerit etc.) I don't know how to use it resp. I suppose for this one you have to use the mod option. Anyway, if you can live with only the skins, then it's easy. Cheers 1
FTC_Riksen Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 Amazing work Det! Thank you so much for these
Pierre64 Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Hi DetCord12B and you all, I made this .psd transparent mask layer to help (I hope ?) our Tiger skins artists : Tiger_Skin_Mask.rar Highly customizable ! 2 1 4

Super helpful mate. Thank you! Also, I wanted to ask how goes the zimmerit application? Yours looks way, way better than the one I've been working on, which is why I've stopped working on it.
Pierre64 Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Hi DetCord, you are wellcome ! About zimmerit application, this is not very complicated : (beware : my english is very bad !). And now, the worst tutorial ever !! 1 - make a zimmerit layer using photographs of real or scale models zimmerit found on internet : --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 - now, convert in 256 shades of grey (not sure if necessary ?), increase contrast and resize to good dimensions and locations of any 4096x4096 Tiger skins. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3 - apply and modify it (mask helps) : ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4 - and save the zimmerit layer to be converted as a bump map layer : 5 - add this normal map over the default normal map, using option "overlay". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6 - then flatten and convert as a .dds file (pzvih1_b.dds) : ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7 - once all this done, consult a good ophtalmologist ? 1 1 2

=gRiJ=Roman- Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 Two cracks working together! This is going to bring a lot of benefit to our community.
csThor Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 There were many different Zimmerit styles on various armored vehicles. It depended on which factory it was built in and in which timeframe. You'll need original photos to use the correct style for the chosen vehicle. But for Kursk Zimmerit is not an issue as that came quite some time after its conclusion.

In the graphics folder create a vehicles folder. In that folder create another folder titled _pzvi-h1, inside that one create another folder titled textures and drop the bumpmap into said folder. To install the skins: Open BoX to it's main install directory and navigate to data > graphics > skins. Create a folder titled _pzvi-h1. Extract the dds files into _pzvi-h1. Done. Hi I just downloaded your skins and followed these instructions but can't get the skins folder to show up Matthew

DetCord12B Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) @Everyone here. I'd not download the textures provided at present. They're not worth your time, IMHO. Moving ahead and working on some things though. If you haven't looked at the template for the Tiger then I would highly suggest you do as there are in excess of a 2500 individually mapped parts (not an exaggeration) spread across the map. As an example, this means that a latch associated with the stowage compartment (the bin) on the rear of the turret section that needs paint applied is tossed somewhere else and not even remotely identifiable. This process is a bloody nightmare even with a panel finder. That said, I have a few preview images for ya. P1 through P3 are renders based upon the existing camo pattern with slight alterations and was done due to the awful texture and part mapping on behalf of these third-party developers. They'd probably have been better off not releasing a template at all considering that the mapping is done in 3DS and then exported via procedural mats. Which means they paint it in MAX and then export the textures to pre-MPT, so they don't have this problem. P1 P2 P3 P4 This one is completely custom from the ground up and still very much incomplete and a work-in-progress and all colors are subject to change. I'm at the point now where I'm so completely frustrated, so exhausted, that I simply want to quit. And I just might. Still, moving on...for now. Edited March 9, 2019 by DetCord12B 1 2
acred99 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Hi Yankee_One thanks I know how to install skins but there is an issue at the moment with this one as its new. I can't get the beautiful skins to appear in the game despite following the procedures. Matthew
Dauntless Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 I was hoping for an update for "Dets Dirty tanks" Are you planning one?
DetCord12B Posted March 9, 2020 Author Posted March 9, 2020 The dirty, muddy, grubby, whorish textures are coming in the form of a mod (Achtung Panzer!), in which you'll find the relevant information here as to the status. 1
