So, I am really keen to get one of these but I every time I check their availability, it seams to of been moved forward, does anyone have any idea of how realistic it is to think I might be able to buy one?

Best to just keep an eye on the VKB website and forums, and the product you are interested in to see if it is in stock.

I had my VKB Gunfighter Pro sitting new in box for over a year, awaiting the MCG Pro grip. Finally I was just recently able to get one - got it all set up and running yesterday.

Availability of VKB sticks is very random and infrequent.

Also just received the MCG - they supposedly have upped their output and availability should improve - remains to be seen....

On top of the EU Store they are saying "more Gunfighter pro variants expected in August September"

That being said, VKB is quite notorious for pushing back dates so take this with a big grain of salt.

Or get a Virpil Mongoos base and extensions, and a Baur KG13... ;)

Slaw Device, is supposedly exploring the idea of making their own "stick", but Last E mail from them a month or so ago said that was some ways off.

If I hadn't already been so heavily invested in VKB - having tried out the Virpil hardware at the Vegas FS Expo, they would be the front runner...

I can attest to the Virpil setup as well, great stick.

i got my vkb gunfighter pro at the euro store last year, got lucky I guess.. But yeah, these guys aren't reliable, if anything try to get Vipril instead. There's a design problem with the VKB gimball, I outlined it in some topic, i'll try to find it and post it here...

edit:

Also, for the GunFighter Pro owners new and old:

- in my opinion there's a design flaw in a Pitch roller assembly.

- the main bolt that holds the roller bearing (bearing that works against the the pitch cam) is not rigid enough to withstand the pushing forces when equipped with 2 x 50 springs (my setup). Honestly I think this design flaw applies to any double spring setups, read on.

- VKB 'reinforced' the bolt by creating the external assembly using a washer, a hollow tube, lock washer, and a nut. (as you can see in the attached picture, you can also see that it's bent)

https://i.imgur.com/o4YvWGf.png

- the problem with this design is - if the end nut gets loose (it's not a locking nut) the whole assembly becomes loose and the forces will start bending the main core bolt away from the cam.

 Caution/Hints:

a) inspect the main pitch bearing assembly

b) unscrew the main nut and secure it back with a locktight or a glue so there's no chance for it to unscrew by itself. Also, screw it back in very very tightly so the whole assembly is tight against the main plate.

c) inspect the said assembly once a month.

I realized this too late when the nut unscrewed by itself during a gameplay. I opened up the base, took the gimbal out. All of the washers, hollow tube, bearing, and the nut came off the bolt and were laying on the bottom of the base. The main bolt was already bent at that point. I straighten it out as much as I could and then re-assembled it with a locktight glue.

If that [Edited] breaks I don't even know if VKB would offer to fix it, and knowing their delivery schedules if there are even any spare parts available to replace it yourself.

Is that bolt special or a regular one? For instance does it have a larger diameter in the section where the ball bearing sits? Or is it threaded all the way, up to the bolt head?

If it's a regular metric bolt, can you see any markings on it? Maybe it could be replaced with one made from a higher grade steel (if it is not already of high grade), which you can easily find in hardware stores.

it's a bolt with a cut off head, and I think it's glued in to the plate as I couldn't unscrew it not matter how hard I tried. The thread goes all the way through it and it's of a universal diameter.

I've got to say it the poorest support I have ever seen from a hardware vender.

Thats strange because the consensus seems to be the opposite. Theyre quite active on the /r/hotas on reddit and answer fast to email...

Yeah I have always had excellent service from them, and have used it a couple of times.

Been a little while though, so hoping that is not changing.
