Niggut Posted July 9, 2018 Posted July 9, 2018 For some german plaines (FW 190 A-3, Ju 88; He 111) tail wheel locking does not work. There is no reaction to the button at all and starting is impossible.
1CGS LukeFF Posted July 9, 2018 1CGS Posted July 9, 2018 Not all planes have a lockable tailwheel. The Fw 190's is locked by holding back the stick. See also: the Specification tab on your map screen.

This is why the description even has in the headline "Rudder-Brake (Rudder-ARREST). So they are an hydraulic arrest (using hydraulically powered calipers) intended for short-term usage, as it is neither a "brake" (it "dampens" in the sense that the hydraulic arrest cant be overwhelmed with or without causing damage) nor a true mechanical lock (which was done by clipping in external arresters into rudder, elevators, aelerons). Still - it has nothing to do with mechanically locking or braking a tailwheel. Which makes it more dangerous, so seemingly the Crews did the fieldmodification for survival, and deactivated it as fast as they could get away with. Disclaimer: typed on limited information as provided, no proper research done. Nonetheless very distinct description with zero ambiguity.

Cheerio!
[_FLAPS_]RogoRogo Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 better to have it here typed out beyond ambiguity then too

They work somewhat. If objects in game had a realistic relationship with the ground, be it aircraft or tank, then they would work like they are supposed to work.
