Some airfields are bugged still and AI will not taxi. I reported this months ago with a demo mission and just reported again.

This may or may not be your problem - just FYI.

Hmm, this could be related to problem I've reported last week; AI return to Base decision makes them trying to land to nearest mwspawn from completely incorrect angle/altiutude. Because of that they just circle around until fuel runs out. I've observed this at least Velikie Luki Summer map, Prokhorovka. Kuban also.

Did you set the taxipath in the airfield properties ?

Naturally. And set them on ground & resetted the wind and all sorts of superstitious stuff. They completely ignore the taxipath and close in from incorrect direction before waving off. Posted a test mission on the bug reports too.

Do you have a link to your mission.

V4.009 was in bug reports. I attached newer version. Create a server and just spawn in the U-2 and wait Bf-109's to take off. Every time you shoot a rocket or fire a flare, a Minor damage is applied to planes. Usually 8 times is fine to trigger the RTB. (you can see it from their behaviour). Last one has AI disabled, and it follows "OnCriticalDamage" waypoints and lands. Others have "AI RTB decision"  (ignore those damage tresholds, the game ignores those too, the are there for previous testing). If yuo dont  have U-2, just switch it to IL-2 '41 for example and edit the complex trigger.

I have been having a devil of a time trying to get AI to taxi. I have set up the taxi chart through an airfield spawn object, but the AI behave as if it is not there. Taking off straight ahead from where they spawn or pulling off the runway and stopping their engine. I have read the guide above, and I can't figure out what is wrong here. Any advice?

On which map did you work ?

I spend some hours on the problem. In your mission, one of the plane has not the setting RTB checked.

I found some problem which could be related to the question above. I have to run others tests.

I read it Jim. I send you some answers after some more tests.

Great. You do not have to spend any more time with it. I told in the first place that one of the planes do not have AI RTB enabled to prove my point that built-in AI RTB does not work as intended.

I was not asking how to get something to work, I was wondering if my bug report could be related to what Gambit said about taxiing.

I didn't try to work on your mission, but i have to be sure that the problem is not your mission. That's why i have to search in several direction, and trying to understand your mission is one of them. I missed that you wrotte about the AI which not have the AI RTB.

Anyway, i'm waiting the feedback of Gambit to have another report, but the problem could be greater than we thought, and not exactly the same as we thought.

Nice, and if all this work and testing means some repair and corrections for the next update just if you can add some features like increase the maximum number of taxi points and improve the positioning speed of a flight group of multiple planes on the runway (it takes ages) would be welcome. I know that I shout in a black hole, but it makes me feel good. ?

Already asked several months ago. The number of taxi point is a great limitation with the big airfield on the bodenplate map. But i will ask again. ?

...I think the taxi path decision for a plane may be dependent on the nearest taxi point to the AI aircraft, regardless of which airfield object owns that taxi point. As I say, more testing needed.

Well I just did a test today and I found something:

The aircraft designated as "Leader" (i.e. linked to the rest) will always taxi first.

However, the rest are dependent on #id sequence(FIFO for those accounting folks LOL). This is not the same as linking sequence, but more creation sequence that determines the id# number.
