The missions menu acts weird sometimes. Does it read the missiom name from the editor or the file name from the mission??

I thought it was the file name but sometimes it wont update.

The missions menu displays the name in the mission properties Name field. If the Name field is blank, the missions menu displays the file name (without the extension). If you save an existing mission under a new file name but you do not change the Name field accordingly, the new mission shows up with the old mission name. In this case, change the name, save the mission, and delete the cache files as explained here so that the new name takes effect.

Hi - I really want to try these missions as they sound great. Unfortunately, I have unzipped the file in my missions folder but in the game under missions I only see a folder called Alberts Life, but when I click on it to open the missions nothing is displayed, just an open folder icon.

Does anyone have ant ideas? I thought it may have been because the folder was read only, so i changed the property to no avail.

Many thanks

In general, what files do you see under the Windows folder Missions\Alberts Life? There should be 109 items, including a media folder and sets of files starting with 01, 02,...12. Each set of files should include .mission, .msnbin, .list, and then six files for various languages such as .eng and .ger.

Yes I see 109 items in the folder, including the folder called Media and the files as you describe, so it would seem correct?

That is puzzling. You could try refreshing the cache files and see if that does anything.

Yes I already tried that thanks, I also have two other custom mission folders in there and they work fine. I am at a loss.

Try this:

1. Open the mission editor (drive:\Program Files (x86)\1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\bin\editor\STEditor.exe).

2. In the Tools menu, choose "Resave All Missions in a Folder", navigate to the "Alberts Life" folder, and click OK.

3. Clear your cache files.

4. Run IL-2 Sturmovik and see if the Albert's Life missions are there.

Jim - Ok tried that and sadly still no joy.

I think it is something to do with the files in the Alberts Life folder themselves. The reason I say this is  I created a folder called Test in the mission folder and copied over some of the pre-existing mission files, IA_Parking, into the test folder. the I started the game and I can see the mission folder in my mission list and when I open it I see the mission inside.

Completely baffled by this.

But thanks for your help anyway.

No problem. The only other thing I can think of is try deleting the folder and re-extracting the mission (checking your extraction options carefully). Good luck! Be sure to post here if you figure it out.

Worked for me too.

Thank you all!

Finished the first two missions so far and they were very well made.

Looking forward to the next ones and to the first contact with the enemy.

Hi Haash,

Still no luck I am afraid. I downloaded the new file from dropbox, copied it to data\missions folder and extracted it there. After that I renamed the cache files and wen into the game and the same thing. I can see the folder but when I click on it, it appears to open but I do not see any content inside.

I also tried it connecting offline as well but it made no difference.

I might see if there are any other downloadable missions I can try to run to confirm it its just your mission I am having trouble with, ill update later.

Thanks again

Hi  Haash- I just installed the mission "Sturmoviks over Stalingrad" and I can see those missions in the game without any problems, so it seems its just "Alberts Life" that isn't working for me.

Very frustrating!

Try deleting the cache files rather than renaming them (be sure to delete the ones you renamed already). I don't know if this will make any difference, but it's worth a try.

OK Jim, ill try it. Thanks

Sadly no, deleted ctreecache.eng and mtreecache.eng, which is correct I believe?

Hello,

Mission six does not appear in IL2 menus though it is in same directory as other missions (going from 5 to 7).

The problem appears when I replaced mission 6 by the new one (corrected). After, I deleted everything and install new distribution but still same problem.

I deleted the files as indicated but still no mission 6.

This is for your information only. It is not a problem for me.

Thank you for your appreciated work.

The boat mission looked promising and it didn't disappoint!!

I really enjoyed it, and my final kill against a 109 face-on i manage to break off his wing and duck in front of him before we had a frontal crash.

Lots of fun!!

If you want mission 6 someday, try refreshing your cache files before you start up IL-2 Sturmovik.

Thanks.

I already tried this and still mission 6 missing in game menu.

I redone same operation (+ remove ttreecache...) and still the same problem : no mission nr. 6 .

As told not a problem.

Hi I ran into some problem on the recon mission (third one) when even if I fly over the first yellow waypoint it doesn't update to the next. I've tried it many time, I even flew the complete mission and that WP is still there stock at the first position.

Many thanks for all those involve in this campaign.

I think you can ignore those waypoints, but I am not really sure, played it without Icons.

I also play without icon and the waypoint are there. I mean the yellow wp on the map ;)

Ignore waypoints when you are flight leader (or flying alone).

Really sorry, I did not have access to my PC last couple of weeks, RL is busy as hell, but I just edited the first post with a new link to up to date missions.

I will fix the pic on first page and m4today as soon as I can, hopefully this weekend.

Can we change to air start somehow?

Taxiing the Mig 3 is waay too hard.

You can edit the missions in the FME, but I would recommend learning how to taxi instead.

The Mig is easier than most planes, because it responds to the rudder inputs very well on taxi.

Use small inputs and keep the plane speed low when taxiing. Full RPM, and 50% mixture.
