I´ve been invited to a meeting in Västerås by Crister Bergström, the author of Red Star Black Cross, where among other things I´ll be able to have a seat in a FW 190A-8!

The event is called Luftwaffeweekend.

I just bought a pile of books on the winter war. I'll go for these books next. I'll go for Red Star Black Cross books next.

They are hard to come by. There are some in amazon and ebay but they are mostly overpriced because they are rare.

The author recently stated that together with Volume 4, a new batch of the vols 1-3 would be printed. I would wait and get them brand new at retail price if possible.

@Wolfram-Harms of course I´ll have my camera ready but I cannot guarantee a vid! I´ll try to make a brief report when I get home again, if I´m not too exited!

The series are called 'Black Cross Red Star '

Volume one is the most expensive of the three volumes available, for a new copy you are looking at over £200... A second hand copy is over £150.

The other two volumes are not as expensive.

The British library system appears to have just one copy of Vol.1 - in Macclesfield. I ordered and borrowed it a few years back. We just have to hope that nobody devious has decided to keep it.

Cheers.

Been a while but here are some impressions from my encounter with the FW 190A8 Wnr 739137. I,m describing the impression one gets from the pit in game either the original IL2 or the GB series compared to sitting in the "real thing"! I was talking to the pilot and part owner (they are five owners sharing the AC) who was standing on the wing to my right explaining about flying the plane. We all 13 midaged men had our "tour" inthe pit and there was only 2 of us the were slim enough to think they had good room in there. Testing with closed canopy made the impression even more tight! They really didn´t have too much space in there. Still the pit in the 109 was even more cramped we where told!

The 2 provided pics show me in the pit and the plate with the Werk-Nr attached to the plane. The most impressive event of the day was when they started the engine an let us listen to the song of the BMW 801, although they only ran it up to some 1200 rpm it was most impressive! Goosebumps all over and chills down the spine! I´ll update this post when I get some more info on the plane and maybe drop some more picks.
