D_Konig Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Ive just been playing the new updated career mode which I like so far - but has anyone played both extensively? Which one do you find more immersive/realistic ? Thanks!
falle96 Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 I only have experience with the career mode, and I'm enjoying it. PWCG's big draw to me is having the actual squadron line-up there instead of randomly-generated squadron members at start.
JonRedcorn Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 (edited) I've only just gotten back into IL2 recently and have been playing the career. The single player in the game is so much better than it was the last time I was playing Il2. It's amazing. Playing in VR now also helps with the fun. I haven't tried PWCG but I hear good things about it from posts on the forum. I do need to check it out. I just like how career mode is all in game so it's easy to use with the VR headset. Lemon Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 hi @D_Konig To answer your question career mode is fun but not dynamic so if you play often you ll easily know where enemies will or can be after a while. IN PWCG missions you wont know where enemies will be, and anytime between your waypoints you can meet enemy or friendly fighter or bomber flights that can make you change the original mission plan totally, so if you cant predict what will happen that make it more realistic by itself.
D_Konig Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 (edited) Interesting, thanks! I am finding the vanilla campaign to be a bit generic after a while. I only ever played 2 PWCG missions I think about a year or two ago whenever it was released, but it seemed much more realistic to metat the time. I'm also playing In VR now so I'm still getting used to that - much more difficult to see anything at distance though. It only works for the BoS portion of Il-2 though, correct ? Missionbug Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 (edited) PWGC has always been a amazing utility, sadly I do not play much anymore but have used it in the current game and it still is, however, for me the airfields are bare, devoid of the usual things you find in career or scripted campaigns so it spoils the immersion a little for me. Currently as much as the new career is itself great it has some issues that the development team will hopefully fix in the not too distant future: Lack of mission variety, especially recon and something for the Ju-52 to do. Damaged enemy aircraft chasing you all over the place when in the real world a living pilot would have RTB to save himself and the aircraft, really annoying. No aircraft torpedoes. Just a few irritating things off the top of my head. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. Edited June 2, 2018 by Missionbug
D_Konig Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Yeah those Russian pilots are hardcore lol sometimes they chase me on fire, leaking fuel and oil lol
dburne Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 I play both, as they are each excellent in what they do. PWCG is more customizable but need to also get to desktop to claim victories and get next mission assignment. The program is most awesome though and Pat continues to improve it with some exciting stuff. Having both the new Career Mode and PWCG available is single player excellence hands down!
