Acording to the ever fact full wiki. They are very different. Wing, cockpit, skin, metric not imperial bolts, extra loading door, rear door on other side and much more. It is almost a new aircraft so even though they look similar, I think it would not be easy to convert one to another with out a load of work. I would be happy playing make believe but others would not be and it is not really in the spirt of this sim.
Roast Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 The more historically accurate (including all the damage) the German airbases (and sometimes makeshift Allied ones) will be, the better. Same goes for the towns and cities on the map. This would mean German cities partly in rubbles, and Arnhem city centre just about raised to the ground after Market Garden. I very much am looking forward to what dev team will come up with Arnhem city centre after the fighting

=621=Samikatz Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I wonder if we'll be able to use any of the existing vehicles in the campaign. The Stuka was still in service in very small numbers in 1944 though it had largely been eclipsed by the Fw-190F/G, and early versions of the A-20 were still being used by the French

The Stukas that were still in use, were almost certainly G1s and those survived only because the Russians at times didnt have their own air support handy...

The whole country is sometimes referred to as Holland erroneniosly. Actually, two provinces are called Holland, North (Noord) Holland and South (Zuid) Holland Officially it is (Kingdom of) The Netherlands, or Low Countries (Nether = Neder, meaning Low), Holland is indeed erroneous. This concludes our lesson on Dutch (not to be confused with Deutsch = German) history for today
Wissam24 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Seems like there will be certain dams in that area of historical interest....

WheelwrightPL Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Quote: " The Newspaper articles is a huge task on their own and takes several months to complete". IMHO I would prefer this small yet very talented development team to focus on what really matters: there is lots of opportunity to increase graphics fidelity, improve explosion effects and ramp-up physics model especially on the ground (it is currently much better in the air and it can be jarring). Or alternatively release the game as early access so we can fly Quick Missions on new maps in new planes while we wait for "Newspaper articles" which "take several months to complete".
Custard Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 The newspaper articles are written by paid community members, I highly doubt the devs are wasting programmers writing fluff. Come on, use your brain. Spoiler 2

Newspapers will not stop them from releasing content as they are part of the career that comes out last.

This means that there will have to be Stirlings, and Dakotas to drop paratroops and tow gliders... I mean, it won't be Market Garden if those 3 elements are not included, at least as AI targets... very happy Sorry Trooper, we will not be re-creating this as you are suggesting. We don't have Dakotas and gliders. You will fly missions in support of the larger operation in and around the general area. As we say in the DD, we have to make compromises. Do not expect the entire Western front to unfold under your belly. Jason

I'm so curious how the dense populated areas are being modeled and what impact on the performance is to expect. Just awesome! I'm also curious, if the Ruhrgebiet and the big cities like Cologne and Frankfurt are going to be modeled in a severely damaged condition as they were at this stage in the war. We will do our best to make the scenery representative of the battle space at that time. Please don't expect every village/town or large city to be built. We simply don't have the ability to do that. We'll have to pick and choose what we can build in the time we have and with the resources we have. Just as we have done with all of our other maps. Also, with a map that large with so much scenery we start to run into performance issues. We'll do our best though as always. Jason 10 minutes ago, Space_Ghost said: Waiting for the preorder. Also that news of Flying Circus seems to be inbound is really exciting! Just a sidenote. Another Sim would charge a full price just for the map. Here we get the map plus 10 aircraft plus an excellent game structure with dynamic campaign and what not all.... Unbelievable content for a bargain. That's a shame, I really love the A-20 in game. Flying the Stuka against the best of the RAF and USAAF sounds like a fun challenge, though Thanks for replying

If they manage one relevant landmark they will beat a certain paid for map that, to this day has only a generic railway bridge, an incorrectly placed village and no other detail on an important historical area of the Caan Canal. At least JS isn't bulling us about great historical accuracy like some producers did.

We don't like making "civilized" maps for this reason. Too much to desire for detail. But the plane-set is too good to pass up so we'll give it a go. Like we said, compromises will be necessary, just like we have already done with our other maps and they are pretty great. Jsaon 4
Sotka94 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Career sounds better and better, thank you for such an interesting dev blog . I am starting to get a little worried now about performance issues, though. I already had to downgrade my graphic settings after the Kuban update, and my computer is only two years old. I'm excited to fly through Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge, I need to do more reading on most of the other listed operations, however. Looking forward to starting a career in the RAF/USAAF.

EDIT: I can certainly think of some structures within the map area that, while historically correct, have no place at all in a flight sim. Edited May 17, 2018 by TP_Silk
