catchthefoxes Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 what does anyone think it'll be? which one would take the most time to create a flight model for or the most difficult to recreate accurately with the current information on them?
Gambit21 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I'm going to say the P-38. The flip-side is that since it will be a challenge, they might tackle it earlier for piece of mind's sake.

EAF19_Marsh Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 262 given the reference to Mach modelling. Spit IX or G-14 this month? Would give some indication of progress rate

As I remember the engine limitation is the number of gunner positions, because each has their own AI for shooting, and more AIs slows the game down considerably
Herne Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I'm guessing the 262 will be saved for last. Can't wait to fly it though !
-TBC-AeroAce Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Probably the 262 for two reasons. 1) it is the most different multiple engine. 2) people will cry bloody murder if they don't have the full set to fight it with.
seafireliv Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 P-38 will likely look amazing in VR... I was impressed by it just with TrackIr in IL2... Pity I can`t push to VR right now.

Poochnboo Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I've never heard mentioned that the B-25 was definately going to be made flyable. Might have missed that. Just because of their complexity, I'm going to have to go with the 262 or, unfortunately, the P-38. If the A20 is any indication, the twin engined airplanes seem to take longer to release.

A few select forum members may participate in beta testing. We should see the aircraft in a few weeks. (and before anyone asks, I don't think they are looking for more beta testers)
catchthefoxes Posted May 17, 2018 Author Posted May 17, 2018 @AndyJWest thanks for the clarification!
PatrickAWlson Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 The best suspects have already been mentioned. I am going to go with the 262 because, as far as I am aware, this team has never done a jet engine. The P-38 is reasonably familiar territory (Me-110). The B25, as long as it is AI only, is also not too bad. If it is flyable then not only are there a lot of crew positions but they would also have to implement mechanical turrets. Still, going to go with the 262. Is there a pool?

It might make more sense to start work on it early, to avoid having the whole project held up if it has issues. 1

I suspect that they will start working on jet FMs and DMs early, but will finish it last because it's new. Total, random guess, of course.
-SF-Disarray Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 I would think the 109s and 190s will be done first along with the Spitfire and the 262 last. The art assets and I should think much of the flight and damage models for the 109s, 190s and Spit can be pulled from the existing planes in the game already and then modified to fit their real world counterparts. With planes that have no analogous plane in the game already the work will have to start from the beginning, by in large. The more different the plane the more work would probably have to go into making it in game, at least that is what makes the most sense to me, and that would make the P-51 and 47 and the ME-262 be the later planes to be finished. 1
Trooper117 Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Remember the 'discussions' that were lively and quite entertaining about the 190 'bar' and it's fm's, or the 109's roll rate and dive speeds? Just wait till the 262 turns up... ''Tin hats everyone!''
BlitzPig_EL Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Much popcorn will be served for all the FM discussions about the late war aircraft. Be sure.
Oyster_KAI Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Me262 or P-38+1,or think about grand finale, how about P-51D? there are many flight simulation games include P-51D.It will be intreating to compare all of them. Jason said battle of bodenplatte beta test will start at this weekend maybe we could see some live stream or WIP video?
