ShugNinx Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 Hello ! I'm among the many enjoying the new career mode, yet I couldn't find any documentation regarding the career speed setting. All other settings are pretty much obvious, but this one is puzzling me so I left it to realistic default and am looking forward to learn how it works and affect the career progress. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Thanks in advance for your replies. I think it is related to how many days pass when you click next day. If you leave it on realistic, your careers could be very long, particularly if you start in BoM and go right through to the end of BoK
ShugNinx Posted May 4, 2018 Author Posted May 4, 2018 Thanks Herne. I was suspecting like this, reading from other posts, but was looking for something more specific...
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 (edited) Realistic has you visiting (and possibly flying) every day of the campaign; Medium has you doing so every other day; and Rapid has three days in between mission days. Realistic - Every day Medium - Every second day Rapid - Every fourth day I personally prefer Rapid, as it is a good simulation (in my personal headspace) of experiencing just my pilot's "interesting" missions. As if he still flew all those other days, but nothing really happened, so we skip over them. It also prevents the situation where your single pilot is downing 800-900 enemy aircraft over the course of a battle. I just finished the Battle of Moscow, flying for II.JG52, and ended with 69 kills, plus a smattering of ground targets. I find this much more plausible than what we usually end up with when we fly every day. Edited May 4, 2018 by hrafnkolbrandr 1 1 3
dburne Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 I just finished a Spit Career in Kuban, with speed setting at Realistic. It was a fairly quick Career for me - 39 missions. Anything faster and it would not have lasted long at all.

BNJ Posted August 26, 2019 Posted August 26, 2019 i agree Setting to rapid aswell in BoS makes it more plausible on realistic i recorded 523 aircraft kills in rapid 103

How many times did you die to achieve it? Because if you talk about realism and immersion then surly respawning all the time and scoring hundreds of kills because you can't be killed is not very immersive or realistic. I don't think it's even possible to get this amount of kills if you play on iron mode and don't take unnecessary risks to kill everything on sight. 1

I don't think it's even possible to get this amount of kills if you play on iron mode and don't take unnecessary risks to kill everything on sight. My ironman campaign (my first serious attempt, where I wasn't just messing around with things), I am currently through Moscow, and half-way through Stalingrad (though my squadron skipped a big chunk of Stalingrad). This is with rapid progression and scattered activity. I have 39 kills. I could probably have more, but I have made a rule not to engage when outnumbered, unless I can do so safely, from clear advantage; I do not latch on to enemy fighters if a friendly is already in pursuit; and in escort missions, I do my best to protect the bombers (if I make a pass on a fighter attacking them, and am unsuccessful, I pull away and reassess; usually the attempt was enough to peel them off the bomber, and usually there is another coming in that is then more of a threat- so no target fixation going for the kill). I've never done an 800 kill career. I was just estimating what might be possible for some people around here. Edited August 27, 2019 by hrafnkolbrandr
PatrickAWlson Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 It is simply easier to get kills in the game. The Ai fights on under conditions that a human would not. The AI also sees all. Combine the two and you have an enemy that will always track you and never give up ... sort of like a terminator without the skill

No im not talking about iron mode i got shot down a couple of times (even tho only 3 of them would been the end of my campaign) but yes on expert settings
