It just seems like if the clouds of dirt are that dense, they should have more weight and fall back to the grounds. It looks like there's no gravity at play in that effect. Dirt clouds in space.

I have to agree with both of these views. It looks like a bunch of cotton balls and floats off into space. No offense to whoever is doing the work on the bomb explosions, but this was my honest reaction upon first watching and now having re-watched the clips. My 2 cents with no attitude attached. Hoping for the best. Tracers are :o:. Here is to hoping the craters will effect a plane that runs through them and cripple landing gear ?

You should have a 40% off code in your e-mail, so you can get Il-2 Battle of Stalingrad which has the 109 F4 while you wait for TFS to finish Tobruk.

The spamming from BOX fans aside, I really see  a good attempt updating effects here , in my point of view it is a tremendous upgrade from what it was.

What spamming are you [edited] about now?

Ehr Spamming is a repeated gesture over a short period of time. Like your posts here. [edited] is a negative tone in a post. I cannot see your description suit my post at all. But I do find your defensive attitude a bit on place

All right fellas, please avoid negative personal comments or we will need to send some posters off for nap time.

BoX has done a fine job with their 109F's... and TF is looking forward to using our game engine to see what it can do to replicate them.

Is dynamic campaign generator just weird name for career mode?

Posted (edited)

Depends on definition of "Dynamic Campaign Generator" - the reference for the matter is Falcon 4.0 Campaign in what some map characteristic dynamic change due mission outcome,  e.g. a damaged bridge in a give mission remain damaged in the subsequent missions.

What exist for CloD until now - Enlightened Florist "Campaign Generator", TheOden "Dynamic Mission"... is more a mission generator based on same map template, an static environment.

"Dynamic Mission" is very good, but generate oddities like RAF interceptions (during BoB) happening... over France. ?

I just hope it will be historical :russian_ru:

What I see as dynamic, is the set capacities of each side , both in supplies and storage . If you manage to reduce logistics on the other side and keep yours safe you eventually will win the campaign. I really appreciated the Dynamic Campaigns in old IL 2, I miss them very much. Not sure if they where dynamic in every way, but the campaign lasted as long as you manage to stay alive, my record was 153 missions in a IL 2 , just to die when the wingtip hit a static plane while taxiing back after a landing and successful mission. The plane blew up ?

I am not the fan of "what if" and would rather see historical campaign like box. You as 1 pilot wont change war and since you are smarter than AI you will  While having it dynamic in small way, for example destroyed bridge stays destroyed for few days etc. But some would like "what if" campaign where you can invade UK etc. So why not both to make everyone happy? :P

Any news this week?

I appreciate it will be 3-4 weeks before the new PR guy is in place and ready to post but the forums are dead regarding progress of either the interim patch or v5.00, FB is dead (last post May 5th), this official 1C forum is on life support, Steam is turning to vapour.....

Maybe a screen grab of the Mk.V Spitfire? Anything!!!!?

Cheers MP

Gents,

I would appreciate a video up-date, however, we were told that a new PR would be starting within 3-4 weeks (dated from 26 May) and I was under the impression that TF would be giving fortnightly updates and this already appears to have gone by the way-side.  Therefore, when can we seriously expect to see regular updates please, as even "the next short while" feels like the "in 2 weeks, be sure" reply we all remember!?

Thank you

regards

I am not sure why folk even bother asking any more.

It's better now to just sit and wait, any news that does trickle out is just a minor boon to the day.

@Haza, the new PR guy is getting his first update ready, and should be ready with it before the end of the month. He had to come in, see all the projects, communicate with the entire team to see where projects were at, what can and can't be talked about, so on. He will have his update around that 3-4 week time that I said.

When I said regular updates every two weeks, I did regular updates every two weeks until our new guy accepted the job. Instead of stealing his thunder and taking more time away from my 3d/texture work, I stopped updates after the May 26th update and helped him transition into the team and get him caught up. Minus releasing 5.0, some people won't be happy with any update. The new updates will have their own style and organization, and we are getting to the point in the project that things are now getting in game rather than just renders, so more exciting updates. It will be a good summer and fall.

The Figures don't look healthy for Cliffs, considering many of the non Steam IL-2 players who wouldn't be accounted for on that chart.

After looking at the Blitz update and changes (effects) :negative: I lost what interest I had in the game. I used to be wowed sometimes with the damage effects, so put up with the "idiosyncrasies" of the game in single player, but sorry not anymore.

I don't really see any problem, multi is kind of dead, people who want multi just play bos. These who want SP can't play CloD now because there is not any now. From time to time i play clod in quick battle just to shoot for fun, but that's nothing that would keep me playing for a long term. People will come back to this game as soon as some career will appear.

These steam charts dont show anything now, people play BoX, 1946 because there is single and i believe most poeople play SP. As soon as 5.0 comes, africa expansion and some career, i am pretty sure bunch of new people will start playing and old ones (like me) will come back, since all i want is SP.

Multiplayer is dead and no single player?  Thats not a problem?:o:

As it stands many more people are still using '46 - which is approaching it's twentieth anniversary - than Cliffs.  Perhaps it might be an idea to make some sort of communication to whatever player base that remains at the moment - to keep some sort of interest going.

Is there some expectation that in a few months,  out of the blue, TF 5.0 will be released and people will flock back to Cliffs?

Good luck with that one.............

No, it's not. TF wont magically give career just like that... they barely started working on this game. Where is this huge expectation coming from? They said they will make one after AI fix. We waited 4 years for BoX career. I have no intrest in MP so i don't care if it's alive or not, it's also natural that people move from older game to new one. Maybe you won't come back, but you are not the voice of entire community. Early war, africa,  it's something that BoX does not have, people  who will want to play in that time frame and theatres will enjoy it and SP is all we need. Even if there won't be enough people to play mullti, SP will always keep game alive, new expansions and careers, you can play alone as much as you like, no need to depend on other people joing server.

Also there is more people playing SP than multi, you can easly see that on BoX, there is like ~300 people playing, and 100 on multiplayer servers. So you have 200 people having fun in SP. So in my opinion, all they need is good career (similar to BoX) and lots of people will start playing. I am having fun in 1946 careers now, waiting for CloD, especially africa. I am sure there is lots of people like me.

They've been working on this game for five years.   Whilst I agree that the fundamentals of any game depend on single player,  everything we've had from TF thus far has basically been about multiplayer.

If there are lots of people like you perhaps TFS might like to drop 'em a bone to keep them interested.

It would be much better for all concerned if CLOD was taken out into the woods and put out of it's misery. It is a failed game, and in it's new manifestation is simply blocking BoX from an environment ideally suited for BoX's mix of small fighter units and ground attack in N.Africa, whether that is El Alamein or Tunisia.

I own it, I have desperately tried to like.... but no amount of lipstick on the pig will rescue this.  The various people working on trying to resuscitate for this would be much better employed doing things for the BoX engine.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that 777/1CGS decided to give up lease on an Africa/Med product - I won't be purchasing anything from TFS - I've got hundreds of hours in CloD but it's dated and it sucks and the problems are so fundamental that they couldn't be resolved without essentially rebuilding the entire game.

They were working on a mod, now they work on entire game, they have access to the source code which they did not have before. It's huge step. So they did not work on it for 5 years, serious stuff just started.

You may not like it but others do. So no, it would not be much better, and if you think BoX would go to africa is not clod then you are just so wrong.. They are going into pacific, at least 2 expansions. This would take years, pretty sure we would still come back to russia and more pacific. There would simply be no time to make random africa expension. It would require to make everything again, desert textures, models, everything. While for example bodenplatte is more less still green/winter europe. So even if, they closest africa expansion from BoX would be in 5 years? In 5 years CloD could turn into amazing game. I don't know why so much hate on clod, TF barely did anything, they got broken game and they are fixing it. It won't happen in a week... stuff like this needs time. And i think 1C and 777 knows better than you guys, if they decieded to support clod then they believe in it.
