Hi,

I have spent two days trying to load the Tank mission or any other mission,it does not show in the missions file .

I have been extracting the various files from the forumn to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Missions

Any help would be greatly appreciated.TIA

By the way BOS bought through Steam,BOK from Website.

Are they read only or something?

No they not read only AeroAce ,these are files such as Hold the line etc which I downloaded from here. All the articles I've read on the forumn show my file structure correct !!

Salutations,

Simply load the included folders into your games missions folder.

Audio folder

Hold The Line folder

There is no need to load the individual mission files.

When in the game... select missions. Open the Hold The lIne folder and the missions will be displayed.

Yes that is one of the files I'm trying to use in missions, but after installing in the data\missions folder ,it does not appear in game missions, talk about frustrating !!

Really?

I will delete my version currently on my computer and attempt to reload them for results.

Update. After deleting my folders I opened the .zip file and reloaded its' folders into my games data/missions folder.

I opened the game and entered missions. The Hold The Line folder was displayed. I opened the folder and all three missions were there.

I don't know what to tell you. My copy is working as it should.

Thanks so much for trying I will just have to persevere until either I find a solution or reinstall the whole game which is not ideal as I use a mobile for downloads (very limited data)

Sorry for your frustration. If and when you get things working correctly, I'm sure you will find my tank missions fun and a challenge. :salute:

Induf - do you have any missions at all showing up?

There seems to be a bug in this regard (no missions) but not afflicting everyone for some reason.

This has happened to quite a few of us: no missions in Missions...

Is this a Steam versus Non-Steam (i.e., 1CGS website) install issue? I have the non-Steam install and all my missions (user-made and dev-made) show up.

Non-Steam here, no missions show up.  All missions are there in the data/Missions folder but will not show and cannont be accessed from the Sim.  I generated a mission with PWCG and it does not show.  Can't imagine why some have this problem and others do not.

I just got through starting up all three of my tank missions. They all ran correctly.

Although, the second one had all the tanks missing their proper texture. They appeared white.

I deleted its msnbin file... loaded it in the ME, saved as with same name. Restarted it and everything looked and ran fine. Weird anomalies but they are running fine now.

WOW I'm relieved that other members are going through the same experience , I thought I was losing the plot not being able to access the missions folder , hopefully someone will come up with a solution .

G'Night for now 3.11am here in Aussie and a Big Thanks to all .

Hopefully the answer is not to reinstall. That's a multi-day operation for me.

OK guys, by process of elimination, I have found that Jade_Monkee's missions were the culprit on my system (No offense Jade, I have enjoyed you missions immensely).  I started with an empty data/Missions folder and began moving folders and missions back one at a time.  When I saw which missions kept me from being able to see anything, I saw they were the ones by Jade_Monkee.  I have no idea why but that is the case on my system.

On my system all of the Jade_Monkee missions were the ones that the title starts with Attack, bombing, fighter and a particular aircraft type ex: P40.  Anyhoo, once I deleted these, I could see all old missions and see those created missions from PWCG.

That's odd...it's still a bug though.

OK - removed all user made missions (mostly my own) and the stock missions now show up on the missions page.

Thanks Gambit.  I hope it can be straighten out, Jade_Monkey made some of the absolute best single player and scripted missions out there.

I have no idea of what it can be. I'll test tomorrow.

Seeing that its not an issue running the missions but simply even displaying them in the folder I guess it's something on the naming convention. I'll try removing the hyphens to see if it has any effect.

SUCCESS-- Gentleman, and a massive thank you to Aust3298 and everyone, deleted all mission files and have started reinstalling one by one and they appear in the missions folder and work .I have saved Jade_Monkeys files for later if they can be fixed ,Once again Thanks very much to all.

I did eliminated the folder with Jade Monkee's missions but leaving everything else, but still no joy .So do you recommend deleting everything & using the original downloaded missions re-installing them one at a time in the now empty Misions folder?

You are welcome.  Glad I was able to help.  I really hope Jade can find the problem because, like you, I have them saved and hope to play them again.  Good luck and happy flying.

Ok... I removed JM's missions, all my other missions show up, however, most will play ok, but Juri's Platzchutstaffel Pitomnik missions won't start...

Neither will the Spitfire mission over Kerch, or the Sturmoviks over Stalingrad missions.

I hope a solution is found soon  :)

SUCCESS! Finally something worked!I now have a clean install in my missions folder, with most of the downloaded missions showing up in game...I can't thank you enough for this tip!

Can I ask you if you have been able to also install Jade Monkey's mission pack? His missions are among my favorites, but I don't want to screw up what is now working after 4 days of being disabled...

It seems like I found a solution.  Each mission has multiple files. If you delete all except the binary files (.msnbin) you should be able to play them and have them show up correctly.

I'll see if I find out why, but at least it worked for me.

Jade Monkey-Will give it a try today...I did do a vanilla install of you Bf-109E strafing mission & it did indeed stop missions from loading...I'll see doing what you recommend & keep my fingers crossed!

OK, I moved only the .msnbin file for the  Attack-bf 109 e7 - Strafing Raid into my data/Missions folder.  It displays OK now but it does not run.  When I click it just goes back to the Missions display.

By the way, I have the same issue with Juri's Platzchutstaffel Pitomnik missions and the Kerch mission.  I never had the display problem with these but I have since found that they will not run.

After a disappointing & frustrating 20 + minutes or so...

First I took out all the suggested MSBN files & then slammed the Jade Monkey's missions folder back onto Missions folder. It showed up in game but wouldn't open to reveal missions,Then I tried just one mission from folder ( Bf-109E attack.) This mission now actually worked.Emboldened I tried another ( Airfield Mayhem- I really like this one) now in game  all missions were once again gone, so I removed just this one & restarted game...still no missions in Missions.I had to remove the first one ,Bf-109E attack and then go to game & once again I had missions back. It might be me , or something odd about the way steam has updated the game , but one thing for sure : something doesn't like your missions, even tho I think they are great....sigh...

My guess is that some missions were built a long time ago and something in the mission file format must have been updated and makes them incompatible. I dont do anything special to my missions. As reported by @aust3298, it seems like some of Juri's missions are having the same problems.

I can't believe the dev's would have changed the mission formats, knowing that people make missions and others download them, without putting that information into the update notes or Dev Diaries...

@Blitzen, did you remove all the other non msnbin files for all missions? The .eng, .spa etc.?

Not intentionally, but sometimes some changes have unintended consequences in other areas of the game.

Posted (edited)

No, it's not intentional I'm sure but after the 3.001 update my tank missions would not run. I had to delete each of their msnbin file.... open them in the mission editor... Save As. Then they ran normally.
