Failed to update

Can not load the new update states Failed to update.  3 attempts now it hangs up at 49.2MB/1.88GB 150kbs   Goes no further and locks up screen.

Any information on others having this occur.

This has been a complete PITA downloading through non-steam. People can't get the thing to download. I've been trying all day. Abysmal download speed with the download size continually growing bigger, resulting in a 'Failed to update'. 

 

Appalling. I will be looking to port my game over to STEAM to avoid this debacle in the future.

I'm having the same problem, it fails before even reaching 1mb. Not sure what to do. Haven't really encountered any download issues in the past.

I've downloaded/updated successfully on the 1st attempt, and played 3.002 already. Next time I tried to run the gam, problems ("failed to update") started. A couple of tries later things started working normal again.

I have finally got it to download . 5 attempts. Last attempt I shut off my Norton anti virus and then it worked. Started it up again about 3/4 way through the down load and it still worked ok.

Norton hates games.  I wouldn’t recommend using it.

I'm having the same problem even though I have a lot of bandwidth.  Maybe this is some sort of hacker attack?  I feel for the developers, having to contend with this, too. 

 

UPDATE:  I just let it keep trying and, it eventually completed the update.  Tested it with a Quick Mission and worked ok.

Guys I know that is frustrating but have some understanding, so many updates went well in this one there is a glitch, give the guys some time they ll fix it.

 

I let mine fail and now its done correctly. It got something like 100+ gb, failed, then 128 mb, failed, and lastly 18 mb and finished updating.

This is a complete and utter disgrace. An entire day for us trying to get this thing to download. Not even a bloody heads up as to if they are aware and if anything is being done.

 

How do we transfer to STEAM please? Had enough of it!

If this is a server side issue, they are probably fixing it or sleeping. The hotfix yesterday was uploaded at 23:00 office time for them.

If you are not on Steam, you might have to wait although my whole squadron has updated deleting the update folder.

 

Utter disgrace and total failure seems to be a little out of place but this might be like being on a traffic jam

I was completely disgusted by BOS when I bought it (especially the pseudo-campaign mode and the whole "War Thunder" approach to it) so left it in the dust. Now I come back because they fixed all that and BOK is fantastic, so I bought it and now I can't even download it. What a joke. I've always railed against any online connection requirement in games exactly because of shit like THIS. I also hate forced auto updates for THIS reason (and because updates often screw games up instead of fixing them). This is the fault of all the people who told me "this online thing is the new deal" or whatever crap.

I understand your frustration, but although I don't always agree with the producers/dev team, this problem with the downloads is not the usual way

they work. Usually, the update or download works fine. So, I feel sorry for you.

 

If you purchased the product from their web side, I'd suggest to get the Steam activation key. With this key you can install the product through Steam.

Since I have the product in Steam, I almost never ever had any issues in installing or updating the program.

If possible I always buy products directly from the producers, because I do not like Steam actually. But talking about updating products like BOS etc.

I was cool, I bought the game some 9 hours ago and couldn't download it - it's just frustrating now because while it is now around 11:30 AM or something at the devs, I don't even see an acknowledgement of the problem yet or anything. I was expecting it to get fixed by now.

So I wasn't an pre-order or early access customer by then - strange.

About 9 hours ago and I actually did pay with PayPal. It was also immediately recognized as "purchased" in my profile page, with key activated and everything, but I'm wondering myself why it (BOK) is not showing up here in the forum under my "avatar".

No, it does show up there. But I had the same picture as McDaddy when I chose the option "Get Steam Key" - BOS and BOM showing up there (although with the info that getting a Steam key is not possible, like what it says in the Quote from McDaddy), but not BOK. But that doesn't matter since it seems getting a Steam Key is not supposed to be possible anyway or something. Shit is a bit confusing tbh, but never mind.

I encountered this issue recently after a long hiatus. Be that as it may, deleting everything from .../IL-2 Sturmovik/updates/ folder may resolve this problem.  At least, this worked in my case.
The pertaining files analysis may take sometime though before the downloading of update files.

Yeah guys.....I'm in same boat....tried everything and still unable to get game to update. Hope I haven't permanently ruined game by moving files / replacing files as some here have suggested. Worse yet, picked up a virus by disabling my Norton for hours on end.  I'm at the point where I'll have to decide if I delete game and try reinstalling everything, or hope the developers come up with a "fix" sometime soon.  Have spent way too many hours on trying to figure this out on my own.  Not worth it......what a pity.

Sorry for the Franken-post, but this advice fixed my "Failed to update" problem with v4.003 also.
