I made a new poll to see if this plane can beat the other candidates ....  :russian_ru:

Nothing beats the Seagull^^ at least I got that right :)

Yes, of course I would buy the i-153 if it became available. As I said in the Barbarossa thread, I see it as an

historically essential plane for any Eastern Front scenario.

So please release the Chaika Right Now ! ;)

Would be an instant buy for me.

Here's one I prepared earlier.  Would I go to so much trouble if I didn't want one?

I can't understand why anyone would not want to have it... at the very least it's yet another target type for the Luft jocks to chase around the sky  ;)

It's 1/144 scale, modified from a straight winged I-152 kit.

Like most fighters, I would buy it to support the team, but probably never fly it.

Tchaika was really quite a plane in IL-2 1946... I remember scoring 4 E/A (Ki-27, Oscar, A6M...) on Zeke vs WIldcat server in that biplane, map was VVS vs IJA.

Has extraordinary turn-around-the-telegraph-pole rate but you gotta watch for negative G's cutout.

Kuna, I remeber flying on Gladiator vs. Tchaika Servers in the old IL-2 days.

Boy did we have fun… ?

Early access or day one buy. Loved this crate in IL2 1946.  I would even buy a second and gift it.

Come on guys let's make it happen! :pioneer:

I probably wouldn't buy it. I'd rather see other planes built.

Somebody actually picked the German fanboy answer!

Oh and Mr Teufel that's the thing I don't want to play War Thunder Im talking about my favorite sim here otherwise I would do exactly that ya know...

That's ok. Mr. Teufel tried the Allied planes when they were final-released with BoBP, realized that they WEREN'T going to be easier than what the Germans already had, and went back to Axis.  ?

Sure would I buy a premium Polikarpov I-153 Chaika. I would also buy a Henschel 123 Bi-Plane for mud work. I think in general the early Barbarossa period could use some love from the devs. June 41 - Sept 41 map and plane module ?

Errrr….No.

The I-153 was slow and poorly armed with terrible visibility from the cockpit.

I'd like the following aircraft:

He162

Lockheed P80

Arado 234

Dornier 335

Speed and firepower, you see. That's what I want.

I can handle slow and weak firepower, I cannot handle poor cockpit visibility. I like seeing all the lovely eye candy around me.

I never found the visibility to be poor in the I-153. Four guns in the nose was always very effective too.

+1, would buy.  Would probably buy 3-4 more for friends, too.

Visibility takes getting used too for biplanes and for parasol winged fighters... speaking of which... having a wing below your line of vision seems quite weird after flying the Fokker E.V/D.VIII or P.11c long enough! People need to be patient to let their minds adapt though... just as I am with the P-47 and Me-262 (how could anyone handled such speed! The planning that turns take is impressive!)

I was like you once...

Now I want a Salmson-Moineau S.M.1... and even I'm not sure why.

...but I was like you once.

Your. Doom. Awaits.

For some reason it looks like a mini Westland Lysander just with one wing. Must be the wing configuration...or my third bourbon. Whatever.

I mean that's your opinion but I personally don't think it even remotely resembles this plane lol

Still hoping my Tchaika dreams become true here.

Have a great day/evening sir!

Okay - court adjourned! It was indeed the third bourbon!

I can't say no to a biplane.

Just say no. ?

As for the Tchaika, irresistible. As are a few other biplanes with retractable undercarriages. Even Grumman managed to produce something that looked at least passable - the F3F. Though they wen't on to make the Duck, which is best described as.... Well actually, best just described, rather than looked at.  It is possible to make an attractive (or at least not-ugly) biplane amphibian, see the walrus. And on a similar vein, for fans of civvy amphibians, Sikorsky made a couple which are things of beauty.  And back with non-amphibian biplane gear-hiders, there is the Beech Staggerwing. The Tchaika has to be the nicest-looking military example though.

The world's only turbojet powered biplane, world's slowest jet and world's only jet cropduster. Now used as a scarecrow in a Polish field of cabbages!!!?

NATO analysts tried to claim it was designed to deliver chemical weapons on the battlefield. Utter paranoia.

Designed by Poles, because that is what the Soviets asked for. Malicious compliance, I suspect...

If we want to provide target practice for the opponents...Err...no.

Would rather a He 162 or an IAR 80/81...

In a recent poll members picked the I53 (as well as seven other planes) over the IAR. I voted for both, so I'm not to blame the final poll results on.

"Though accurate counts are sketchy, the actual number of German aircraft shot down by fighter pilots in the short campaign (Invasion of Poland) was around 105 - 110 to the loss of only 26 P.11s to air combat."   - Source:  IL-2 1946 object viewer(under P.11c).  The entry goes on to credit Polish pilot skill as a major factor and does not state that other Polish aircraft types probably contributed to the kill count as well.

I'll take a Chaika and the PZL11.   I could even see this plane coming with an included scripted campaign to cover the first few days of the invasion, - even with a few $ added on if the plane and campaign are sold in 1 package.

Maybe a Western Poland / border with Germany map could be built too?    Sign me up!

Well we (myself and my team) will definitely not buy this because it isn't for sale.

Only if we have those EARLY battles...then it would make sense.

I don't think we'll fare better in Battle of Moscow against superior German Me-109s...Its already pretty hard with the I-16 as it is.
