Some my ideas about possible Career mode in upcoming Tank Crew DLC.

At the beginning I want to say hi.

I am a fan of the career mode in the rise of flight and in il-2 sturmovik, these are really excellent modes that, although true, require several patches and innovations, but I think that the developers will deal with it. I must also say that Il-2 sturmovik does not run smoothly on my old computer so I was not able to spend more time in it, but I plan to buy a new computer on which I will be able to enjoy this game. In il-2 sturmovik my character is Nikita Fiodorov he defends Stalingrad on the Lagg-3 fighter, in the Rise of Flight Camil Petein serves in the French 31st Squadron.....

But I'm coming back to the topic.
As you know, developers from 1C are working hard to create Tank Crew DLC, probably many of you in this would want to also be in the tanks was a career mode, it is a very cool thing that was in the future DLC simply omitted. I realize, , that a career in Tank Crew can cause considerable problems .... And here they are ...

1. Place of action and units.

Probably it will be difficult to create many units as in the case of the aviation mode in which we have many of available squadrons operating from permanent airports, in the land battle the front line has constantly moved, it will be difficult to create something like the airport from which our tank member or commander would go on a missions. How to solve it ?, in my opinion, just as it was in reality, the day ends with the mission, for example, when one day we were to get capture a village, after getting it and completing the mission in the next we start in this village. The base or unit HQ would be where the our tanks stopped the day before.

A similar difficulty may occur in the creation of units, in air squadrons it is easier, there the flight crew is smaller, it is easier to create a group of pilots or allies, with names also, each squadron had its own number, name or own emblem. In armored units, create a full list of tank commanders from a brigade or tank regiment can lead to chaos and you will be able to get lost in it. Therefore, I would focus on independent units like the brigade or regiment, or I would focus on showing only one company ... In the first case, we would have a list of battalions and companies contained in them, and only in them, a full list of tank commanders. In this case, when we started a career and after choosing a tank we would get a random assignment in a random company.
In the second case, we would only get a list of companies, and it should be remembered that the tank company consisted of about 10 tanks, so the number is similar to the number of pilots in current squadrons. However, companies did not act as an independent unit, they did not have their own history or emblem or names.
Personally, I would consider the first option because of the possible description of the history of regiments or brigades For example:
(Organization is come of Polish book about battle of Kursk with my some English descriptons :) )

And that's it fromr me, if there are any more suggestions from me, I will certainly post them here, say what you think about it, you can also post your own ideas about career mode in Tank Crew DLC. Cheers :) and sorry for my bad english....

I do hope that Tank Crew has a career mode, but I agree - it will be difficult for the devs to do. I would wager it'd be much more difficult to survive inside a T-34 than it would be inside an IL-2...

I think that the structure of a career mode will largely depend on the scale of typical tank scenarios in Il-2. Currently, there can be about 16 aircraft in Il-2 missions. On the ground, 16 tanks would severely limit the scope of career missions. All operations and units would have to be very small. However, we don’t know the technical capabilities of future releases. If something like 64 tanks per mission is feasible, there will be much more room for larger career units.

There is also the question of Waffen-SS units present at Kursk, namely the Leibstandarte, Das Reich, Totenkopf, and Wiking divisions. Some of these will at least have to be altered as their emblems feature banned symbols. Perhaps the devs will decide to remove these units altogether.

Or they just change their names in a way that does not offend anyone. When it comes to the organization of units in the career mode, 1C is working on improving the graphics engine, so probably the scale of land battles will be much larger.

Another thing I noticed is the M4A2 Sherman tank, which is on the list of available vehicles, it's nice that the developers want to add tanks from the Lend-Lease Pact, however Shermans did not participate in the Battle of Kursk. Units equipped with them used them only from autumn 1943. Only M3 Lee, M3 Stuart, Churchill Mk III/IV and Valentines tanks take part in the Battle of Kursk.

Returning to the subject, very often and especially on the Eastern Front, armored units quickly lost their vehicles, often fought against them in full. The shortages in the equipment were great especially in the German forces. I wonder if this will also be mapped in any way.

I think the M4A2 is a sensible decision, there is some evidence of (relatively small) use at Kursk

When the times comes I will gladly make detailed missions for a tanker scripted campaign.

Are there missions for the Tanks for SP besides the ones that come on by default? I've been trying to look for some. Or should I be making them on the Editor at the moment?

I'd make some but the current game is not built in a way to support ground combat... one of many examples is LOS for firing and unit detection. I built some test missions and it takes a lot of work arounds to make it some what realistic.

Sad to hear, but that link seems interesting thanks.

What's going on with LOS for ground combat? Is it like in DCS:CA where ground units can see through trees and what not?

Yes, what I mean is LOS just doesn't exist.

I did make a test mission awhile back where you sit on Hill 112 by Stalingrad in a T34 and a german column drives along a road over a click away. Made for some nice target practice. Something I found out is that the Pz III's will not engage the T34 until very close range, probably since they have to be close to use the 50mm effectively.
