Hey Guys,

time is passing, new content has been put into the game..

But still no tools on the map to create a curse.

Please finaly add a compass, a ruler and protractor.

I love to fly Bomers, but without a fine curse its so hard to navigate in 6 km hight.

crazy,

no one is interested in navigation.

this game is more like a shooter then a flight-sim.

its a shame.

You can use il2missionplanner.com. I know it would be better to have that in the game, but for many it's enough to have it outside. The author also keeps improving it, which is something devs would have a hard time to do given their roadmap and resources.

I am curious where you have been flying to get such a twisted view.  The only people who can have no interest in navigation are players in Wings Of Liberty or people who play offline and choose to turn on all the cheats.   The majority of players are in TAW.  Finnish, Coconut Expert etc and if they don't navigate then they don't know where they are.  A quick check shows you have spent about 6 minutes in Finnish since October and there is no record in TAW.   How have you decided 'No one is interested in navigation'?

Navigation is one of the most satisfying things in a flight sim for me as well. I also love to have tools for navigation, ADDING waypoints before the mission and not being forced to fly missions with only 2 waypoints (besides take off and target).

The flight planning website is great but since I fly only in VR it doesn't help much.

Don't agree with OP though, that has nothing to do with being a shooter game. Just some (long awaited) tools missing.

What I don't get is that PWCG has better planning tools and default flight plans than the game has. It seems to me that those tools would not be that fancy to implement, even more so after like 4 years of development. That and the AI was my major disappointment in 3.001 - all the other stuff is great however.

What I suggested in the 'Suggestions' thread was that if it takes too much manpower to add MissionPlanner functionality into BoX then perhaps they could just add a simplified version of the DCS Kneeboard function.   For those not familiar with DCS,   you can add a series of charts, maps, checklists etc. as jpgs into a specified folder for each aircraft and pressing a key while flying brings these up on screen and allows you to scroll through them.

What has Kneeboard got to do with MissionPlanner?    Well MissionPlanner allows you to make a flight plan then not only share it with other people but also download it to your PC.   If you download your plan to the same folder that the BoX kneepad function looks at that simply pressing the key will bring up the plan that you (or your flight leader)  made earlier.   It only needs to handle a single jpg though obviously it would be very useful if it could be expanded later to allow multiple jpgs so you could also have the target layout, Engine settings etc available at the press of a key.

Great idea, however I'm not sure if this would be less work than letting us add waypoints on the map. I'm no engineer though. But I think they have to do SOMETHING to adress this issue. Often flightplans go straight over heavy AA that can lead of almost you whole squad disabled for the mission. Just because of bad flight planning.

If I remember right, Jason said that they were looking into better map/navigation functionality. They just did a giant big update that was probably an all hands on deck effort to get 3.001 released. Give them time to knock other items off the list.

I wouldn't be surprised if during the course of Bodenplatte development we see better map controls come in combination with the Air Marshal system. I can see these being linked efforts in some way.

Been wanting in-game map tools for a long time, would definitely help with navigation. They have a flight plan in career mode, I wonder if they could edit it and make it available in multiplayer and make it so you can edit course and add waypoints etc.

IInformation about terrain height when moving the mouse over a specific point wouldn also be great for setting up the bombsight.

Seriously? Maybe you play a whole different sim then me. Sorry but I was able to lead 6 He111 100km to our target in my KG22 times. You have dozens of options to get the course, times, terrainmarks, etc. And: As higher you fly, as easier it gets.

There is no shame. I hope the devs do not read such posts. Embarassing.

I recall Han saying a couple of years ago that map tools were planned.  Maybe there is still a chance one day.
