pescatore Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 (edited) Hi pilots My question is how I can start the engine emergeny power at the bf109 in BoS? I tried to use it by pressing the button mapped to a certain key but didnt work :-( Then suddenly on my 4th flight in mp mode it was jut ON for some reason from beginning on, since then I could never get it to work. Any help is much appreciated :-) Edited March 14, 2018 by pescatore
Finkeren Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Emergency power in the Bf 109 is simply running the engine at higher boost and/or RPM than the limit for "combat power". You can check the limits for each plane in their specs, as they differ from type to type Only in a few select aircraft do you have to press a specific button to activate "boosted mode" or "emergency mode". IIRC this applies only to planes with Shvetzov engines (I-16 and La-5) and the Spitfire (where it unlocks +16 boost) In the MiG-3 you activate boosted mode by pushing the mixture lever to 100% (normally you'll keep it at 50% or lower)
pescatore Posted March 15, 2018 Author Posted March 15, 2018 @Finkeren : Thanks a lot for your answer, well explained! So when I understand right I just have to switch to Manual Propeller pitch and run the engine on higher Rpm? The strange Thing is that one time only it happened that I hat the pitch in auto mode as usual where it normaly does not run the engine more then 2500Rpm but then I got a message on the right side of the Screen saying "emergency power" and when I gave full throtle it ran up to approx. 2800Rpm what it normally does not allow me to. As far I know the bf109 originally had automatic Propeller pictch control plus also automatic mixture is that right? So when I want to fly realistic I should not adjust These Things manually? I would like to fly other planes as well but so far they are all locked for me as I just started the game, do I have to Play the campaign first to unlock them? Thanks for your help!
rolikiraly Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 You can fly any plane that comes with the package you have. You can start a Quick Mission and see what planes are there for your own flight. If you bought just one module (let's say Battle of Stalingrad), you won't be able to select planes that are in the other modules (Moscow, Kuban in that case), but you can still select them as AI enemies. Regarding the engine management, it's generally supposed to be on automatic prop pitch for the Bf-109s. To reach combat or emergency power, just push the throttle, simple as that. 100% throttle is actually the maximum power for Bf-109s. There is one exception, the Bf-109G-2 variant, which doesn't really have 'emergency mode', 100% throttle is still just 'combat power'. You can manually increase the RPM a bit for a little more performance, but i'm not an expert on how that should be done properly. Hope this helps, if you have any problems or other questions like this i highly suggest checking out the Manual/tutorials subforum.
