Since installing the newest version of the Oculus Desk Tray I have had a real problem: the gunsight reticle seems to be infected with what I can only call a bad case of the jiggles .It looks as if its trying to be a van de graf generator. It also infects the ammo counters in German aircraft from time to time. These effects are particularly evident in the F& G models of the 109.Need I say this unnecessary effect is really irritating. I’ve tried various settings in both the tray utility in combination with in game settings but haven’t hit the magic combination. Has anyone else had this problem & solved it?  This is probably something I’ve done incorrectly recently because it wasn’t in evidence before...thanks in advance.

It happens when Oculus software activates ASW mode. Press right ctrl + Num 1  to turn ASW off.

Or you can go the harder way and try to find a setting to maintain 90 FPS all the time.

I'd love to get such a high FPS& flying a single plane I get around 85 from time to time but generally in missions FPS hovers between 45-50 most of the time...no matter how I set high to low settings.

I am mostly able to get 90 with a GTX 1070, 4790K at 4.7 Ghz and 16 GB RAM at 2666 Ghz. Or I "was" able to when I last flew in December. I only had ASW kicking in on crowded AF's in multiplayer or heavy dogfights. Also bombers are more demanding than fighters.

I am on Balanced with no AA, Shadows on low, 3X landscape distance no Sharpen filter, but sharpen on for ground, no HDR or SSAO, normal grass. HUD off (!!!). SteamVR SS = 1.5

But since I haven't flown I've seen some other promising recommendations on the forums I'd like to try when I get back on.

Just tried this with no luck ( except it DID reset the throttle to '1"...)also tried Lft Ctrl +Num1 and got 3 red squares in the cnter of the screen in gameplay  but no joy for jiggles. Could Global Super Sampling in game or Tray tool ( currently set at 2.0) have anything to do with solving this?

FYI in case you didn't know disable the HUD for a major FPS boost. I have a toggle for the hud on my joystick so I can turn it on when I need it, and then turn it off again for the FPS boost.

The tray tool might be overriding you ctl/1'ing.

I found I had to tell the tool tray to turn ASW off multiple times.

Also AFAIK, the tool can cause FPS loss, so I don't use it. YMMV.

When hitting Left CTRL and one, sometimes I have to do it a few times to get the wiggle to go.

Yup...I knew that, but you know when I do it I don't get much of a boost at all.Neither does fddling with the quality settings in in game "settings".

"AFAIK"?

Ok, in your experience should I be hitting Right or Left Ctrl while pressing Num1? I'll give it another try.

This is all pretty frustrating , but I appreciate your help.

what are your PC specs?

Also I don't have experience with the oculus tray tool. I have oculus, but I always use it through Steam VR. I just found it easier to manage and adjust that way. You could try using that instead of the oculus tray tool.

my recommendation:

- get lefuneste VR mod

- disable propeller in-game

- don't disable ASW

the above gives you the best of both worlds. 90FPS + AWS if required + no jitters with AWS whatsoever if it kicks in

This advice seemed to work best- I turned off the tray tool & started through Steam. Not only did it cure the jiggles but seemed to give at least initially a higher FPS ..all good with ASW turned off in game. Now my question is are there any tweeks I should be doing for VR in Steam? If so waht & how...or should I just leave things well enough alone in Steam VR default settings?

not at my gaming PC right now, but there is a little steam VR window with a pic of your headset and your sensors and it should say something like "ready"

on that window, there is a drop down and in the drop down should be an option for "settings" and then from there there should be a developer tools tab I think.....

Either way, in the settings you can enable/disable both ASW and interleaved reprojection. I personally play with both disabled (but I also tend to maintain 90 FPS). the other thing you can adjust n the settings is the Super Sampling value or SS for short. the higher it is, the more clear your picture will be in VR, but the harder it is on your PC.

Just an OMG- I see what you mean now about the effect the HUD has. With new settings I get about at best 85 FPS, with HUP back down to 50 FPS.!I get no stutters with either but I winder if I get a bit better clarity on both objects & landscape with higher FPS in BoX?;)

BTW: Rain is another FPS killer with HUD on or off...

Easiest fix I did for the gun-sight, was set up a profile in Oculus Tray Tool for BoS, and one of the settings is for ASW off.

Seems to work great for me.

Why isn't that considered a hack?  Does it make the prop transparent?   What would be the difference between this and making the whole cockpit transparent?

I am not much for having mods installed, like to keep my game straight up as it comes from the devs.

For me ASW off just looks much better, even over Kuban flying the new Career where it is fairly demanding I still am running pretty smooth.

The Oculus tray tool seems to have done the trick no more...jiggles...!
