=SqSq=switch201 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) Hey all, I was curious if it would be at all possible to create scripted tutorial missions for each plane in the game, akin to the way DCS does it. It seems like it is something that is doable, but I don't know enough about the mission editor to say one way or another. I also have not seen any tutorial like missions in the game at all. I figured at start, it would simply go over particulars about the plane and tell you were to look to read information from the gauges. Then the tutorial would give you info about taking off. once you take off I figured this could trigger another mission event where it tries to tell you how one should land the plane, and maybe give you a little more info on the particulars of that plane. SCG_Schneemann Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I think Requiem has done most of them - pretty good job too. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwV5RLX7mkaDy5gTIiuwGmg 1
=SqSq=switch201 Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) I think Requiem has done most of them - pretty good job too. Those are YouTube videos though. What I am talking about would be in game "missions" like you put them in the missions folder and then you play the mission yourself. In the mission there would be text with audio going over the plane while you are sitting in the cockpit/flying around. Like if you have played any DCS tutorials then that's pretty much what I mean. Gambit21 Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Totally possible - a shtiload of work though.

I've always wondered why there was no campaign or mission with audio voice in IL-2, there seems to be a "media play" but perhaps it's not easy to control? I haven't seen a way to trigger on the airplane's controls or parameters though, that'd be limitating. No user cold start sequence either (it's automated) or cockpit-mouse interaction, so I don't think it's the same philosophy in IL-2 than in DCS, training missions wouldn't be in high demand.
Redglyph Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 What helped me start learning the basics was videos like requiem's and pages like this one. Already mentioned, and the OP said that wasn't what he was looking for. It's just above.
