Zargos Posted July 24, 2018 Author Posted July 24, 2018 Ooooops ! I've just noticed that I made a terrible mistake ! The plane was coded NL-L and not LN-L as displayed on the screenshots ... shame on me ! Please reload the skin on the link here ! 2
Zargos Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 Hi guys !I had the idea to continue my series of Spitfires Mk.IX by the famous LO-D of Pierre Closterman and then I came across the last "Special As" of the magazine Avions in which I found a very interesting issue about a French ace that I did not know (shame on me): Michel Boudier. In this well documented article I found very nice profiles from Thierry Deckker and a high definition reproduction of the Popeye boxing the swastika painted on the both sizes of the fuselage. As a result, I threw myself on this skin: Information and download here 7 4
RaFiGer Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 @Zargos Superb one, I really admire your style... Beautiful for a Beauty of a Predator 1
Hoss Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 La-5FN #44 and #45 are corrupt, there's nothing in them when I download them. Cheers Hoss

Well, I don't understand : I've tested both links and both are OK and the RAR files are OK too. Nevertheless I've re-uploaded the original files. I you still have troubles, send me a MP and I'll send you the files by mail. Cheers. By the way, I've started a new SpitIX skin : Pierre Closterman's "LO-D" from the N°602Sqn with its D-Day stripes in Jult 1944 : Not finished yet ... 3 2
Zargos Posted August 3, 2018 Author Posted August 3, 2018 (edited) Still progressing with my LO-D : hand painted victories marks and d-day markings finished. There is somme weathering and paint chipping left to do : By the way ... I've discoverd (historical picture) that the plane had no D-DAY stripes on the upper wing. To be corrected. Zargos Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 Hello dear pilots, Here is the Spitfire of Pierre Clostermann (N°602 Sqn). Everything is finished. I must confess that I've been a bit lazzy (it's summer time after all) and then I didn't create a complete new paint chipping for this plane. Shame on me ! I just modifiy the most "visible" areas : left wing root, letf side of the fuselage and the coiling ... Here are some pictures : Download here 1 2 4
Zargos Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 Sorry guys ... you'll have to reload the skin. I've updated it to correct a small detail on the invasion stripes . On the original skin, the delimitation between the guns and the edge of the wing was really too clean for a hand made painting job done on the rush hours before the D-Day. I rework this area to give it a more appropriate look. Dowload here 3
smink1701 Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 A real beauty and great addition to my Spit collection. Thank you! 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted August 7, 2018 Posted August 7, 2018 S! Zargos was The Man with skins in original IL-2 and seems to continue this tradition with great success in BoX! I like the skins a lot, gone is the excessive shiny reflection like a mirror. Keep up the good work! 1
Zargos Posted August 7, 2018 Author Posted August 7, 2018 And now, after many Russian and Allies skin, I'm back to my favorite playground : german planes ! Thanks to RafiGer templante, I'll make this Bf109G-G of the 2./JG300 ; I've just started, my first job is to adapt RafiGer's template ... See U soon with some screen shots maybe. 2 1
Just a few words to say thank you. It's been a long time that i play with your birds. i'm rather discreet on forum but i'vewanted to say Thanks to you and all of the skinners for that sharing spirit so rare in these times...Romain
Zargos Posted August 8, 2018 Author Posted August 8, 2018 Hi Galoub, Thank you for your friendly comment. It's nice to see "old Il2" pilots back on this forum.

Zargos Posted August 16, 2018 Author Posted August 16, 2018 (edited) Hello guys, I've made some progress with the "Red6" : Still, there is a lot of work to do. I must modify some detail to RafiGer's template to adapt them to my style, and then improving the weathering and then make the paint chipping ! You'll have to be patient ... sorry. Ses U soon. Zargos Posted August 21, 2018 Author Posted August 21, 2018 (edited) Hello, Eventually things are not going as fast as I expected. First because using a template you haven't made (even if it is excellent as Rafiger's one), you spend some extra time to find where are the layer you want to modifiy, etc. Then you have to find the location of small parts to paint them with the right color. And at last, regarding the G6, you have to find which parts are modified when you choose the Mk108 option ... But I've made some progress with the skin : Some close views : As you see there are some details to correct ... and the paint chipping to make. And I maybe will make a new normal map for my own use. RaFiGer's one is excellent but I find it a bit too "bumpy" for my own taste. Well, let's go back to work. Edited August 21, 2018 by Zargos 4
Zargos Posted August 24, 2018 Author Posted August 24, 2018 Hello, I'm glad to inform you that my "Red 6" is ready for download. Once again many thanks to RaFiGer for his excellent template. Enventhough I modified a few elements, it was a precious help. I also thanks Pierre64 for his pertinent comments & suggestions for improving the skin. I hope you'll enjoy the final result : Information and download here 4 1 7
Zargos Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 Hello, I've made an update of the Red 6 skin because I've found profiles with different interpretations of the background of the insigna: red or blue. Since historic white and black picture don't help to make a choice, I've made the two versions : Download updated skins here See U soon. Cheers. 1 4
Zargos Posted September 5, 2018 Author Posted September 5, 2018 And now, I'm starting a Fw190A-8 skins : a "Strumbok" of the 6./JG300 : WIP of course ... See U soon 6 2

Zargos Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 By the way ... a last word : I'm on holliday in Italy for a couple of weeks. I won't be able to work on any skins.
Zargos Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 Hello, I'm really sorry but I'm currently have serious problems with my site hosting. As a result, the Zargos Skin Factory is unavailable and I really don't know for how long. If you need to download an old skin of mine, just send me a MP and I'll send it to you. I hope to solve the problem quickly. Sorry for the inconvenience. 2
Zargos Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 Good news, The Zargos Skin Factory is online again. Unfortunately the site database was definitly corrupted and I couldn't restore the former topics. So I've to reupload all the former skins one by one ... not very funny and long : only 25% is restored at the time being. See U soon.
Yardstick Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Glad to see your site back up ? I was looking for the P-39 normal map last night. I will probably pick up a few Spit schemes while I am at it.
