Glad you suggested it, certainly would be nice to know that detail up front during the campaign creation.

I was thinking the same, maybe along the lines of select a map, select a plane, then have a list of squadrons that match the map/plane selections. Even without this is still a great program!

phenomenal. couldnt get my kuban spit campaign going, but my 43 109 campaign worked brilliantly on one of the current maps. genius  thx. look forward to more

And a  question: how are the skins managed?

When trying to setup skins for my squadron, the lists are empty (whether loose, or squadron or non squadron) , the game skins are not shown...

For the skins by plane I found the following file writing these 2 examples:

On the other hand I did not find squadon files to have the skin of each squadron by default.

 

I tried and it works, do not make mistakes in synthax, commas and spaces.

I use Notepad +++

Oups...I choosed max pilot injury 4 but with a spit pilots is killed even with a simple belly landing...? I had to change pilot injury on 3

is that a bug or has a pilot of a spit no chance to survive with a belly landing?

There still no targets on the airfields when I get an "airfield attack" type mission.

 

Also depending of the wind settings, the AI's will have trouble taking off with the Hs129 sometimes.

At the PWCG web site

 

PWCG 3.0 includes the Kuban and all new planes available to date.  Enjoy a career in a HS 129, Spitfire, or any of your other favorites.  

 

I will be out of town for a couple of weeks.  Any issues, etc, please report them here and I will address them when I get back.  PWCG development will continue.

 

PWCG campaigns are not backwards compatible at this time, so you will have to start a new campaign.

 

Pat, is it possible to add a filter on the campaign creation for each of the theaters? It would make it a lot easier to find what we are looking for!

I can help with anything you need for that!

I just completed a mission on 3 October 1941 Moscow Map. Flying with JG3 I had a great ground attack mission. We were jumped by I16's before we reached the target. I had one victory and my mates cleared away the rest. We went on to the target where I got 4 howitzers. Upon returning to base I landed and taxied off the runway and cut the engine and lifted the canopy. No signs of damage to my plane or to me. After ending the mission I returned to PWCG where I learned I was killed in action.

 

Unless I was run over and killed on the way to my shack there may be something amiss in version 3. Never happened in over 200 missions from the last version.

 

Just wanted to get this out there. PWCG is awesome and I like the new version. Thanks Pat, your work is outstanding and your program continues to be the only way I play this great sim.

I didn't realize it, but apparently this was a well-known problem with Spits IRL - I guess that must be why Tom Hardy's character decided to do a wheels-down landing of his Spitfire on the beach in the recent Dunkirk movie :)

I don't know, I think there may be something up. Today I flew a mission in which I returned to base without a scratch but when I ran the mission results in PWCG I had suffered a serious wound and didn't return to JG3 for 3 months (Oct-Jan). As with my suspicious death I referenced earlier I am seeing this behavior in PWCG 3 I have not seen before in a couple hundred of missions in prior versions. While I normally set injury to 4 so I play each mission for keeps I reset it to 3 for now so at least I wont be killed without apparent reason. I'm sure Pat will get a look or maybe I have inadvertently set something that is causing this.

Hi Pat. I found an error. I was injured twice and after the second time I was awarded a silver badge. To get silver it was required to be wounded three times.

Just flown my 6th Spitfire mission,

 

got shot up by a Yak, (friendly fire!!!) but managed to get back ok to my airfield damaging the prop on landing...... the result was I was KIA!!!

 

Loving it Pat but a few people have experienced similar.

I think you're right - my Bf-110 E2 pilot just got "killed in action" by a sloppy (tipped up onto nose) but very survivable landing back at my airfield after a successful mission with no indication of wounding.  I also had max wounds set to "4".  Looks like I'll have to drop back to "3" for now until Pat gets a chance to look at this.

 

Also - still getting the spurious error message upon mission creation about logs not being enabled, although they are enabled (and AAR/claims/debrief process seems to be working fine).

 

Also - still appears that the skin assignment process isn't working for the player's plane.  It seems to work for the AI buddies, but for my plane if I don't go in and manually choose it in game I just get a default skin, despite having assigned myself a custom skin in PWCG.

got the spit campaign working....glorious. out there routinely shooting down He 111s without a scratch. although ran out of gas. luckily right above nearby airfield

Nice.  How many Ju-87s did you manage to shoot down after you ran out of gas?  Current record is 1 (Tom Hardy, Dunkirk, 2017)  :)

Everything works fine for me, so far. I only have problems with the music. I downloaded the file und installed the WAV - files in "Audio" , but it is still quiet. Do i have enable something too?

Now that I have played a good number of missions in 3.0 the following are some issues I've noted:

 

  • I am regularly severely wounded or killed for no apparent reasons. This happens often after good landings, bail outs or successful crash landings where my plane is upright and largely undamaged. The injury setting is 3. When 4 is used I die often and again, for no evident reason.
  • I have the mission delete set to 3 but it doesn't seem to work, no missions are ever deleted.
  • In the post mission reports I sometimes see enemy planes shot down by a pilot who himself had been shot down earlier in the report.
  • During the after mission reports I don't seem to see the pilots replacing those KIA or wounded
  • To many squadron mates crash. They are not often injured or killed but they just crash too often instead of returning home. This may be AI and not PWCG related.

 

It appears that my squadron mates are getting more victories than before and 9 of 12 have at least one, one pilot has 8. That never happened before and I like the change.

Hi Pat, Hope you are having a great vacation. When you get back at it here I just wanted to make sure it was clear that the pilot injury issue goes beyond being killed. I have regularly been getting seriously wounded and missing a month or more when there does not seem to have been any event where I would have been wounded at all. Thanks, I think its fair to say all of us who use PWCG to play this great sim are glad you are improving it once again.

yep, that's the same error I was getting...although I eventually did get missions to work fine.

The Ju 52 doesnt even show in the plane selection, so dont know why is causing the error.

 

Probably a bug.  I scan the skins directory of BoX for loose skins associated with a plane.  My guess is that I am not ignoring when a plane is not found.  The JU 52 is the only plane not represented in PWCG, so that's the issue.

 

The Ju52 error is just an incorrect log.  It should not impact anything.  I will remove it because it is an inappropriate error message.

 

The stack traces posted by motoadve are unrelated.  Something is going wrong when an escort is created.  I will look into that one.

PWCG 3.0.1 released

 

Fixed: Pilot always dead when plane crashes.

Fixed: RoF willl not create a mission.

Fixed: Invalid plane for loose skins for plane ju523mg4e.

Fixed: Mission file cleanup not happening.

Fixed: During campaign creation, transition from rank on previous step causes error.

Fixed: Moving wayponts on briefing map sometimes caused incorrect results.

Fixed: Raised attack MCU and lengthened run to prevent AI ground crashes.

Fixed: Error when creating escort flight for player, causing missions not to be created.

Fixed: Krasnodar map takeoff.

 

Added: When creating a campaign filter by map.  Add map to squadron description text.

Confession: I made some changes that were deeper than simple bug fixes.  Everything that I have run so far is working but there is an element of risk in that I have not tested every possible mission type.  As always, report issues and they will be fixed.  It generally takes a few cycles after a major release to get stable again.

Thanks for the update!

I've seen a couple of small issues in a quick test, both during mission generation:

- I can't move the briefing map by click+drag (the scroll bars work though), I don't know if this is intended.

- The mission summary (last step before accepting the mission) only shows the waypoints info; the mission objectives and pilots are not shown.

With 3.1 the "Debrief Completed" button does not function, have to use "Cancel ARR". Will fly some more tomorrow and see how things go. But I am having a blast using PWCG!

Hej.

Am i det only one, who has a quiete PWCG-menue? :-) It's surely not importand, but i'm wondering why the menue-music not works. All the WAV-tracks are saved in Audio, and under configuration i swiched from 0 to 1. Do i have to do something more?

If you have problems with debrief please use the "report error" button to create a zip and post it.  Debrief complete not working is not a generic issue and is not one that I have seen.  If I get the zip (campaign and mission logs) I can recreate the problem.

Hi Patrick, thanks for the time and work you are putting in your campaign generator. I was flying a few missions with 3.0.1, the only issue I had so far, is, like yeikov already posted, that I can't move the briefing map with the mouse anymore, only with the scroll bars.

One question, shouldn't the Fw190 A3 also be part of the Kuban fight, like the Bf109 G2?
