Archie Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 In the old il2 there was a controller limit (4 I think) is that still the case or can or can you plug more in?
ST_Pirato Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 I have 5 controlers conected,I believe I have read somewhere that 8 is the limit in BoS. Not sure about that though, but definitely more than 4. 1

Currently have joystick, pedals, throttle quadrant and button box plugged in, and want to add a yoke too!
1CGS LukeFF Posted October 17, 2017 1CGS Posted October 17, 2017 You can connect as many controllers as your computer will recognize - there is no limit.

BraveSirRobin Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 If you own an iPad or iPhone you should install the Custom Control Pad (CCP) by FrozenPepper. The app enables you to use your iPad as a controller. It’s worth buying an iPad just to use this app. 4

Jade_Monkey Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 I think it's up to windows, not the game right?
ZachariasX Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Sorry, I don’t think there is an Android version. But it’s worth buying an iPad just for this. I just bought and installed it on Win7. And it is not working. Same network (Apple play works). Even if I turn off the firewall it doesn't work. I guess I have to refund.
Archie Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Well, yoke arrived and plugged in, all I have to do is delete the pitch/turn axis on the stick when I want to fly bombers, and vice versa when I want to fly fighters!

ZachariasX Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 You have the app installed on your iPad and the corresponding driver running on your PC? Did you sync the iPad and the PC? Nah, did‘t do the iTunes sync. Thnx! I will try that. BoX did recognize the new controller, so it is there. Now I have to make them talk to each other...
BraveSirRobin Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Nah, did‘t do the iTunes sync. Thnx! I will try that. BoX did recognize the new controller, so it is there. Now I have to make them talk to each other... There is no iTunes sync. You start the app on your iPad. The driver program should start on your PC, or you can start it manually. At that point you start the app and click on a red icon on the top left part of the screen. Your PC should show up in the lookup. Select it. At this point you have synced the iPad and PC. If BoX recognizes the controller, I think everything should be synced. Not sure why it isn’t working.
kestrel79 Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 anyone know a good usb card to get? If I do add more stuff, I'm out of ports right now...
ZachariasX Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 That is the problem. I can start the driver program and it works as such. It installed the driver as well as the MSVC redisributable. BoX saw the new controller and asked as usual whether I want to copy the maping of the buttons. When I start it on the iPad, the little red button on the upper left side lets me look for the PC, but it gets stuck searching. Nothing more from this point on. I‘ve contacted the devs of that program (their forum receives wery little love) and they answered quickly. I hope that can be sorted out.
ZachariasX Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 At the risk of coming across as Captain Obvious, Zacharias, you are absolutely sure that your Ipad is connected to your local wi-fi network, right? What is this Apple Play stuff you mention? If the server app is working on your PC, and you have CCP client installed on your Pad, and running, you put your finger on the left hand corner of the Ipad screen and it should give you a red circle icon...you touch that icon and it should open up a window that shows you your PC by it's network name. Captain Obvious is usually the guy to talk to... Apple remote works between this iPad and the PC in question. I even set everything to IPV4, just to be sure. I even turned off the Windows firewall, but even then it doesn‘t connect. I did also check that there is a firewall rule for the CCP. All in order from that side.
Guest deleted@83466 Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 (edited) anyone know a good usb card to get? If I do add more stuff, I'm out of ports right now... Just get a cheapo USB 2.0 or 3.0 Hub from Amazon. You don't need a 'card'. btw, I might be wrong obviously, but despite what Luke FF says, I'm pretty sure that there actually is a controller limit in Il-2, and I think that limit is 7, because I seem to recall a situation a while back where an 8th controller wasn't recognized. Wrong??? Edited October 18, 2017 by Iceworm
BraveSirRobin Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 When I start it on the iPad, the little red button on the upper left side lets me look for the PC, but it gets stuck searching. Nothing more from this point on. Try shutting off the CCP job on your PC and restarting it.
Guest deleted@83466 Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 (edited) Well, all I can say Zacharias, is don't give up on it, because the capability to make a custom panel for all those fiddly little controls is the best thing since sliced bread, imo. You'll figure it out. Edited October 18, 2017 by Iceworm
Archie Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Or make your own, it's not difficult and quite good fun! 1
BraveSirRobin Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Or make your own, it's not difficult and quite good fun! CCP app is x100 better and cheaper if you already own an iPad.
CanadaOne Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Sorry, I don’t think there is an Android version. But it’s worth buying an iPad just for this. I bought the wife an iPad a few years ago. Maybe I'll steal it back.
ST_Pirato Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Or make your own, it's not difficult and quite good fun! Looks good and practical. This App may have more functions and even if the layout can be customized,I still prefer tactle feedback from buttons and axis. Nothing beats a proper buttonbox in my opinion. To each his own.
Guest deleted@83466 Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 Real men use the CCP app
ST_Pirato Posted October 18, 2017 Posted October 18, 2017 That must be why I giggle like a girl when I flip the switches on my Buttonbox :D 1
Archie Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 It's clunky and old fashioned, that's why I like it.
Sokol1 Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 (edited) CCP app is x100 better and cheaper if you already own an iPad. The mileage varies, but this iPad thing don't give feedback other than visual of commands activated/position, cant' be used in VR environment. A physical button box with toggle/or momentary switches give better feedback - despit Bo'X poor support for toggle commands. BTW - In the Russian side of this forum are similar app for Androide, but the topic is not recently, is buried at bit dept now. HRc_AupaOsasuna Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Hi. I have opened a post on tablet keyboards. Digital buttons. Using tablet whit apps. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/31819-digital-buttons-using-tablet-apps/?p=522822 I did not know that this could be done for the BoS and I see that it could be of great help to be able to fly better. If you want we can put there information so that everything is ordered in the forum. Since this post is "Controller limit in BoS?" You look like a good idea. 1
