PWCG BoS 2.1.2 install

Hi All,

 

I'm having a problem with the installation of PWCG BoS 2.1.2   I have moved the download to my desktop and using 7zip i have extracted all and followed the path- program files x 86/Ic studios/IL-2 Stum BoM/data/missions [ placing the extraction here]

 

When opening up the game the installation is not showing in missions, I had a similar problem with the original version, but cant remember how i solved it, I should now better being  a senior that to write everything down !

 

 

I would appreciate if someone could point out where i,m going wrong and give me the write path to follow.[ and this time write it all down]

If you have BOS & BOM then put it in

86/Ic studios/IL-2 Stum Battle of Stalingrad

This is where I have it & it works correctly.

If you only have BOM(can you only have BOM???)

then put it in

86/Ic studios/IL-2 Stum Battle of Moscow

Thanks for that, I have both [ BOS+BOM ] but the path aways shows BOM and into that it goes but its not showing in  Missions ?

Well, it doesn't go in data\missions - it goes in the main BoX folder itself.  I started with BoS, and since bought BoM and BoK, and my main folder still says "IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad", but whatever your main BoX folder is called, that's where the "PWCGCampaign" folder is supposed to go, as I understand it.  (At least for non-Steam version - I have no idea about the Steam folder structure.)

Thanks for that,  so go no further than " IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Moscow " and just place it there ?

If it doesn't work in the BOM folder then cut and paste it in the BOS folder.

Did you read how to use PWCG?

Put PWCG folder in BOS main folder

Go in PWCG folder and click on PWCGBos.exe

Setup new campaign, generate mission.

Go into BOS and look in SP Missions for a mission with your Pilots name

Looks like this for me ----> Blade Meister 1941-10-01.mission

Load that up and away you go.

Make sure you go in BOS/data/startup.cfg and turn on mission_text_log first, see pic

This will allow PWCG to receive AAR and produce the AAR in PWCG for you to see.

Your folder order should look like this, or you don't have BOS.

Thanks,  Mine only shows  IL-2 Battle of Moscow, when i navigate through P/files x 86/ IC game studios/           and yet i own all 3 [ stalingrad,moscow and Kuban ] as you can see under my profile picture

@Taffy: I do not know how the file structure looks like when the steam version is installed. To the best of my knowledge, the install should be in battle of Stalingrad and all subsequent updates go there as well. BoM and BoK are there as well for my install. If you purchased them, they will show up as playable for you. If not, the files will be the same for everyone, but the server won't allow you to play certain aircraft or maps.

Anyway, to install PWCG it should look like this:

 

On the left side the root directory with PWCG installed, on the right the inside of the PWCG directory (or folder).

 

Hope this helps you to get it set up. It is awesome.

Thanks Bando, I will have to check the start- guide you posted,  because whats happening now, i'm opening the PWCG Bos exe file in the files directory and its showing the PWCG page with all the options of selecting planes and configuring the screen.

 

But this is not showing up on the flight sim on my computer ?    i have tried copying the and pasting it directly into BoM but the mission page is empty ?    thanks anyway.

You can't copy PWCG into BOX. The only things that appear in the mission page, are the missions, like BladeMeister wrote in his post #9.

What you do is, start PWCG, create a career,set the advanced config as you like it, click on 'Mission' in the left upper corner, do the map, pilots, briefing stuff and accept the mission. Then start BOX and you will see the mission with your pilot name and the date on your mission page, click on it, click play and you get your mission loaded.

Maybe I wasn't very clear. Sorry

 

First, Make sure you go in BOS/data/startup.cfg and turn on mission_text_log first, see 3rd  pic.

This will allow BOS to produce an AAR for PWCG to retrieve,  and allow PWCG to read the AAR and import it into PWCG for you to see. <---confusing, I know, Forget About It!!!

 

1. Put PWCG folder in your BOS main folder. See 1st picture.

2. Open PWCG folder and click on PWCGBos.exe(make a shortcut on desktop if you like)  .  This opens PWCG setup and mission generator.

3. Per Yogi "set the simple and/or advanced config as you like it, create a career, click on 'Mission' in the left upper corner, do the map, pilots, briefing stuff and accept the mission." This creates your PWCG mission in

    the 1C  Game Studios/IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad/data/ Missions folder. See 2nd picture. This is just FYI, you do not have to do anything here, no copy no paste, this is just if you want to go see that

    the mission is there. <--- THERE IS REALLY NO NEED TO LOOK HERE, IT IS JUST FYI.  FORGET ABOUT IT!!! Really just FO GET ABOUT IT!!!

4. Either minimize PWCG or completely exit it, whichever you prefer.

5. Start BOS and go into missions.

6. Look for a mission that starts with your Pilots name --->Looks like this for me ----> Blade Meister 1941-10-01.mission

7. Click on that mission and you will enter your 1st Mission for the PWCG Career that you started.

8. Finish Mission in BOS.

9. Alt+Tab out of BOS to Desktop or completely Exit BOS <------- your preference here, it doesn't matter.

10. Maximize PWCG if it is still running or restart PWCG if you closed it.

11. Top right, click on your Campaign if you are on the Main Screen. If you are in your pilots Career screen, just go to next step.

12. Top left, click Combat Report.

13.  Top left, click Claims.

14. Use drop down menu, select appropriate kills/claims.

15. Top left, Submit Report.

16.You will receive your debrief for the mission you just flew.

17. Rinse and repeat until you are killed or the War ends. If former, Sorry for your losses, if latter, get married, have babies, sell aluminum siding...

P.S. Don't be discouraged by this long list. It really is intuitive once you have been through it like 2 times.

This is where you will find ALL or most things PWCG. Hope you enjoy as I have for years now, both in ROF & now BOS.

PWCG works with offsets and not hard coded paths.  It doesn't care what your main folder is called.  It does care that PWCGCampaign/../data is the games data folder.

After you unzip PWCG there will be a folder called PWCGCampaign

If you go backwards from PWCGCampaign you should be in the products root folder.

If you then go forwards into data you should be  the products data folder.

lol - you're right.  I really am better off letting other people explain how to use PWCG.  There is a reason why some people get paid to code and why others get paid to do customer relations

Pat did you see this question? I am curious now how to get the weather to change as well? Seems like in PWCG ROF that all of the percentages in the weather config screen had to add up to 100%, but that does not look like the case in PWCG BOS???
