AI ignoring speeds - I am going insane.

One of us can come up with say a 12 or 16 plane formation template. All planes spaced and at proper altitude so that at start everyone is behaving. That won't be possible until the AI is tweaked for the new FM though.

Deleted my solutions, disregard what I said. The mission I was sent by a dev works, but if I try to reproduce it in MY mission it will not work. I tried for 3 hours straight. Then I decided to paste in the functioning stuff into my mission. Annnnd it doesn't work.

I have a similar problem with a group of He-111 flying in a 2 km ragged formation.  One workaround is to slow the formation down as various waypoints.  So I start them out at 350kmh and back them down 10-15 kmh as they go along.  By the time they got to the 3rd waypoint I had a nice tight formation.

This issue has been resolved in the latest update:

54.  The issue with He-111 engines having different initial throttle control positions after starting a mission in the air has been fixed;

@Gambit21 weeee they did it!

Question is: Do the AI formations accept speed settings correctly at all?

For instance, I have a He-111 formation flying across the map with two waypoints, each of them is @4km altitude and @260km/h speed.

When I come to fly alongside the formation while the mission is running, I noticed that the formation built up fine, but the planes are running down their track @350km/h no matter what speed I set for the waypoints.

Cheers!

Interesting to hear. What is the fuel % and bombload out? I haven't tested speed or anything like that since the update. All I know is the issue described previously is fixed. IMO faster cruise speeds would be better, even though I know IRL 300ish KPH was fairly "fast" cruise speed with bombs ect.

As soon as I test and fix all my 110 missions (v3.001 has broken some of my missions due to changes in AI attack logic) I'll run some trials with the 111s. Now I'm really curious.

Fuel was 100% and bomb loadout was 32xSC50 (He-111 H-16 that is).

Looking at some performance graphs of the 111 I thought that 260km/h cruise speed at 4km altitude would be quite reasonable for that load.

Running along with 350km/h came as a surprise to me. I didn't even think that the 111 was capable of doing so for prolonged time with that load at that alt, but AI apparently can do :)

OH dude, yeah H-16 is completely different ball game! I was thinking H-6 by default! I have not tested H-16 AI for speed/climb rates at all so I am not sure what is normal and not. I have taken the H-16 out in multiplayer...it is insanely more powerful than the H-6... H-6 uses Jumo 211 F-1, H-16 uses Jumo 211 F-2 engines. What is the actual power rating difference between the two I am not sure. But I can sure as hell feel it while climbing. (my first H-16 impression was, "oh, I need to decrease my pitch trim that much? jesus".)
