BlueHeron Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Those guys are really showing us how it's done! It's much appreciated and I will certainly enjoy this. :D Please don't burn yourselves out!
JG300_Olrik Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Nice work again. Congratulations for the whole team.
Wolferl_1791 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I think the bars are correctly built. I base this assumption to my experience in VR. In Rift when sitting in the 'real' cockpit, I was surprised when the famous bars were not in the way of visibility. That's because you see with both eyes from 2 different angles at the same time. While your left eye gets blocked by the frame, the right eye can see "through" it and vice-versa. This makes all cockpit frames much less obstructive.
[I./JG62]steppa Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 I think what we have now is a workable compromise, except perhaps for the Bf 109Gs. what´s wrong with the Gs?
LLv24_Zami Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 That's because you see with both eyes from 2 different angles at the same time. While your left eye gets blocked by the frame, the right eye can see "through" it and vice-versa. This makes all cockpit frames much less obstructive.Like in RL. So, probably bars are correct size and shape.
JG4_Sputnik Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Can't wait for the HS 129 and the Kuban. Thanks for the hard work.
chris455 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 For a year now I have been pushing the team hard. It's not been easy on them and guys like Sergey our Lead Programmer has done amazing things in a short time and I drive him nuts with my requests. And Petrovich, poor Petrovich has been lost in FM hell for months plus he's been dealing with and issue with his apartment which isn't fun. Vitaly had to resurrect the Career mode from the dead and still found a way to innovate a bit and the modelers have had to make several brand new planes which is much harder than modifying existing ones. And I went through a divorce this year and lots of other unnecessary personal garbage that has been a huge distraction from my duties. So, a final big push through the end of the year should put us on a whole new level with the tech, features and content we have made the past year plus. Kuban is a huge turning point with our engine and product line. Please tell your friends to support the team whenever you can. Jason Jason, I think I've bought everything you guys have released going back to ROF (original IL2 as well
Adj Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Thanks for news Han. Looking forward to the update.
blitze Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 To Jason and crew, a big thank you for bringing this sim to us and continuing the legacy of Oleg Maddox.
Habu Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 (edited) Just the testers. The rest of us will have to wait a couple of weeks. For information, the dev diary talk about Release candidtate (not beta). For those who don't know the RC (Relase candidate), is the final version of a patch, game,... So if the RC is ok, it's the same version which is release. If there is a problem, they could have an RC2, 3 etc...until dev say, now it's ok to release. But before the RC, you have some beta versions of the patch/game which are tested. So RC is to validate the last change, which mean that there are less work than for beta version. So if the RC is good, the release can be fast. Edited August 25, 2017 by Habu 3
Lusekofte Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 This is great, HS 129 is one I hoped for since I heard of this, but never believed we would get. Many thanks 1
Wolferl_1791 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Like in RL. So, probably bars are correct size and shape. The entire rest of the cockpit? Yes. But I was just trying to remind Zami why the armored glass bars don't affect VR users as much. But they still don't behave as in RL. Quick reminder: As a VR user myself, I really don't care about them, and I think that making proper refraction effects might be a lot of work and drop framerates (which I can't afford). But on the bright side, the "IL-2 Sturmovik: flying over Gelendzhik" video and these latest Duck images show that at least some thought was put into them, at least by the designers of the aircraft, which made the frame in such a way as to limit vision loss. I like how they look.
Trooper117 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 HS 129?... only one thing to say..................... ''BEHIND YOU FRITZ!'' 1
TP_Silk Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Here's hoping that the release will be next week - I have a squadron waiting for that map so that we can fly our next historical campaign and it will take a short while to get front lines and important installations onto it so we can send it out for our mission builders to do that voodoo that they do so well.
StG77_Kondor Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Excellent news! Really looking forward to the new map - especially the updated FMs. It's going to be a great time for VVS pilots. The first 1-2 weeks after the 129 is out, it'll be a bloodbath. We'll all be seeing flaming 129's in our dreams/nightmares .

That's because it can be used as a fighter with a good pilot who fully understands it, plus it has a rear gunner... life will be much shorter for a HS 129 pilot. Historically, the HS 129 had to have good fighter protection to survive on the battlefield. Still, we, as they say, will see
Nic727 Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 The career mode is in this update or the one after? Awesome update! You are doing a good job.
StG77_Kondor Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 people said the same when the 110 E-2 was released and i shot down two Yaks in my first sortie because people under-estimented it. Even the E-2 has about 100,000% better power/weight ratio than the 129. Give or take a few decimal points . It's going to be a super fun plane to fly - don't get me wrong. I'll just expect to not make it back home often.
LLv24_Zami Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 The career mode is in this update or the one after? Awesome update! You are doing a good job. Not in this update, that's for sure. 1

Historically, the HS 129 had to have good fighter protection to survive on the battlefield. Still, we, as they say, will see Surprisingly there were a number of Hs-129 pilots that scored air to air kills in the plane. The usual tactic was to make chasing fighters overshot and then open fire or to make head on attacks.
SOLIDKREATE Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 This whole update makes me happy in the pants!
Finkeren Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Not in this update, that's for sure. Well I thought "for sure" that the Hs 129 wasn't gonna be in 2.012 1
DD_Arthur Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Great update Han! Fingers crossed that the beta team have no problems and this time next week we'll be flying the Kuban map
LLv24_Zami Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Well I thought "for sure" that the Hs 129 wasn't gonna be in 2.012 It happens But trust me, no career in this update 1
216th_Peterla Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Thanks for all the efforts and sacrifices; this job of yours is could be quite frustrating sometimes/most-times. I just hope that your hard work will relate gains in all possible scenarios. All the best. Regards,
keeno Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 just amazing, it looks and sounds incredible. thanks for all the long hard hours and hours put into this fantastic sim, it just gets better and better, can wait for the next patch! Cheers
scotchegg Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Really excited for this. Look forward to trying Kuban this weekend!
Beazil Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Also remember that we are always here to gripe and bitch about petty game issues for you and the new IL*2 series still needs you in command. Sorry for OT rant. Good luck and Godspeed, Jason. well said.
Jason_Williams Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Divorce is a stinker. Sorry to hear of anyone going through such a thing. As long as you get to keep the dog.... Thanks guys. This is my second divorce so I know the routine. Will be fine, but I did lose the pets. I do get visitation and babysitting rights to them though. I will see them next weekend. Jason 3
lurch9494 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Cannot wait, looks epic! Thank you again for all the hard work and keeping us so well informed as the project progresses, I only wish other developers would treat their customers / fans so well!
Luger1969 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Never have so many owed so much to so few. Great stuff chaps. Many thanks.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 (edited) Indeed, and it really is evident that the two best flight simulators we have, considering civil and combat brands, are actually created by ex-USSR teams.... Here in Portugal we have a huge community of emigrants from ex-USSR, and it's very evident that a common characteristic is a very thorough preparation in Math and Physics. Their kids easily turn into "A" board students, specially those who started their school in their native countries, and joined our high schools later. Then, even in other fields, more directly connected to my professional activity ( IT secuity and networking ) again programmers from these countries are among the very best in the whole World! Check Point, for instance, has one of their main development centers there... Limited resources, and being used to overcome problems of all sorts are also for sure a great preparation for all sorts of adversities they face on their professional lives, and it's evident how, with such small teams we can have what I still consider, the BEST, by far, flight simulators available for the PC Game market EVER ( and I've been using it since the mid eighties of last Century ... ). Kudos to the 1C / 777 Team, their unique Exceptional Dedication and Tallent !!! And to Jason of course, for the way he deals with the other nasty aspects of running and making possible such a Project that brings as all unique moments ... Edited August 26, 2017 by jcomm
Bullets Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Just noticed this in DD-161 talking about aircraft FM updates and It is probably a typo but as far as I am aware we don't have a 110 series Pe2 planned to be in the game?? Typo or easter egg? (I don't know if there is even a 110 series pe2)

Quax Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Please tell your friends to support the team whenever you can. If everyone recruits one single friend, it would be enough to continue the series, I guess. I got three so far already
