Hey guys, I must be missing something really stupid... I've searched for answers and I find plenty of tutorials on setting up detailed multiplayer missions using another mission editor, but nothing on quick missions.  Must mean it's too obvious to bother making tutorials :P

Anyway, I'm trying to set up just a basic bomber intercept mission with 8 enemy bombers and just me attacking them, just to play around a bit and get used to it.  I click on one of the multi-plane points on the setup screen and select two groups of four Pe-2's, and only one BF-109 for me to fly.  I start them at 4km up and 2km away.  They will fly straight for a bit, but after maybe 1-2km they just start a right-hand circle over an airfield.  Now, don't get me wrong, I love right hand turns and all...  I finally saw one land last night, so I must just be missing something obvious in the setup.  Waypoints?  All I really want them to do is fly a few straight lines around the map so I can fly around them, intercept, try targeting, practice energy fighting/attacking, whatever else.

What am I missing?

How many waypoints do you have linked together. When they reach the last one they will orbit unless you command them to land or attack.

Have you read the excellent handbook on mission building in the forum. Its a bit different to ghe old Il2 1946

When you say "waypoints"...  I bet I haven't actually set any waypoints and they're just circling their original airfield.

I did see the large mission editor manual that I think is pinned here, but it looked like it was primarily referring to a larger, more detailed mission editor that I assumed came with the sim (haven't put a lot of time into BOS yet, so I assumed I hadn't looked at it yet).  Does it reference quick missions as well, or are quick missions set up basically the same way?  I'll have to take a more detailed look through it this evening to see if I can figure it out.

The OP is using the QMB. Mission building guides are of no use...

Ah.. that's true. We don't have access to the Quick Missions created within the simulation.

Ok QMB. Maybe try to set the encounter in pursuit mode where you chase them. But normally i think they find a place to land

You could look for a single player training mission to download from the mission sharing section. Or ask if anyone has a SP mission that would suit you.

I did try that and you're right, they flew straight for a short period of time and then circled the airfield, decreasing altitude in order to land, I assume.  Trying to find one to download is a good idea though.  I'll do some looking around, see what I can find.
