Great differentiation between the different areas - you can see the area around Temruk, Anapa, Novorossiisk and (I think) Krasnodar as well as the mountains. Loads of variety, looking forward to it.

Wow.. fantastic! Thx for your job! :salute:

These screenshots do a great job of highlighting the landscape diversity in the map. Not just mountains, not just coastline, not just marshland, not just farmland. Really great job.

Not much more to say.... stunning stuff!

In that wartime clip, did I see an I-153 being engaged? Now that is one little aircraft that should be in game.

it looks good, but this kind of audience has this tendency to droll over anything that's thrown at them (no troll intended, i think it's a fact).

what's a real step up is that the map seems to have more unique features such as mountains, seaside with cliffs or beaches, large swaps, large delta rivers, yellow cultivation fields with hedges, etc and that means more memorable locations and easier navigation; the current maps already look good, but they look basically the same at every location.

coming from CLoD i appreciate how you can more or less know where you are and just by navigating by eyesight (in the usual square of the map where server missions take place); this actually much contributes to the strategic side of the flight, especially for lone wolfs/loiters

Looks great guys. Thanks for the work you're putting into this sim.

The clouds sitting between the mountains in screenshot #13 are very nice. Will we be able to fly through such clouds?

If so, it will add a new challenge to low-level raids.

The addition of topographic features to the current IL-2 series is great. Coastlines, valleys, islands, mountains, are very encouraging to see.

Elevation in terrein ! And beautiful too. Those mountains looks absolutely stunning. I guess the most pretty map in history of flight simulators.

Wonderful simply wonderful

Yes. There were several I-153 equipped regiments. They flew mainly ground attack missions. Kuban battles in late 1942 was one of last combats of I-153 regiments.  The last one, I belive, was in 71iap VVS KBF in Baltic see, where I-153 served untill june 1943!

When looking a second time i think that the mountains look very good, but i'm more baffled by how good the more open area's and fields look. So rich in color.

I am not easily impressed but all I can say is WOW!  This is the nicest flight sim scenery I have seen to date (including DCS Normandy).  You guys are in a league of your own.  Can't wait to try it!  And count me in for Midway as well!

My only suggestion, which goes for the other maps as well, is can there be a smattering of small farm buildings Etc. outside of towns to fill in the open field areas a bit (sort of like you see in the US mid west plains areas)?  I am not really familiar with the areas so maybe these did not exist but if they did would be a nice addition to break up the open areas up a bit.  If performance is a concern could include a toggle to turn off in options.

Excellent news,The map Kuban is beautiful.

Because it was by this way there in WW2 times. It's still the same, also

One thing that struck me when flying low over Russia IRL, is just how similar the landscape looked to the original IL-2 game.  Having never seen it before I never realized how close to reality they nailed it!

Landscape can really look bizarre and unreal when viewed from high up.

Kuban looks great!  This will be refreshing after so much time on the winter/fall maps of Moscow, Stalingrad.

Echoing pretty much everyone else, this map looks amazing. I'm sure I will be spending time flying over the mountains and ports just soaking it all in! This map will be absolutely amazing for recreating missions, both single and multiplayer!

Wow, very, very impressed.

These white cliffs just looked like the white cliffs of D..... No, I'm not gonna say that.

It'll be a feast to fly over those flat fields and slowly having to climb up to get into hills, becoming mountains. All on one map.

Awesome!!!!

While this will not replace, "Two weeks, be sure," it has become something of a rallying cry around these parts :)

Can you guys please look for further performance optimizations for VR? It would be great to have a VR Ultra mode, with long view distance for ground, trees, rendering objects, yet without those things that drop performance in VR but are not noticeable - like e.g. hi-res textures or too complex shadows.

Believe they have already stated shadow adjustments are on the way.

That shot of the clouds beneath the mountain tops gave me an idea, a completely a-historical, silly idea, but it's something that's gotta be tried:

Create an MP mission solely for tanks, where you battle for control of a valley. Set the weather to overcast with a low cloud cover. Have each team start on one of two mountain tops on each side of the valley in plain view of one another, since the mountains poke up above the clouds, but have all the objectives down in the valley inside the cloud cover. Now both teams have to drive down there and fight each other in almost complete blindness inside the cloud.

Am I the only one who thinks that'd be fun?

Really amazing work you guys are creating - it looks already very much promising! And although not a big fan of the Pacific Theatre

I'm pretty sure it will be a great success especially when thinking of Guadalcanal or the Salomon islands... Great piece of art, thanks.

Cheers
