the first IL2  had a nice basic manual.

but the BoS is not a history first sim, without an manual?

when i pay for a such complex game, and they let you without a manual... (you need to know many numbers, about bombs, ammo, how the game works,..,..... simply manual is a basic thing )

cann someone explain me this extreme unprofesional attitude? thx:)

Hi mate,

please, don't be so harsh about the missing manual - of course the times are gone when you would get a 300 page manual like for example EF 2000 and sort of.

But, as you already said, the basic manual isn't too bad and you can get a lot of information about the techs of your favourite plane in the game itself and of course

you get much more information here on this gorgeous forum where a lot of nice guys share their experience and facts about all the technical questions you may have.

Have a nice flight.

Cheers

that links doesnt work for me ( 20.7.2017)

and looks like not official. all sims had amateur (youtube) manuals..thats nice.

but when its about paid software,  an profi, included manual, is a  must be.

another example is DCS - digital combat simulation. maybe is time to take some wisdom from them? :)

( i mean, like 20% manual like DCS will be serious. but nothing...)

Better not. How does it take to release anything final from them? I kind of remember this includes manual as well. Is the Mi-8 SOP out already?

In any case, the reason you don't have one here, is because it takes time away from development of the sim and it's not really needed here. You have all the specs of the planes in game and it's not like getting around operating 5 levers and and like 10 buttons requires months of studying paper. Another thing is that with abundance of Youtube tutorials, hardly anyone except maybe a few dedicated geeks reads this stuff anymore. I know a few dudes who are into DCS, and they used to go on about reading manuals all the time, but as far as I know, they would mostly skim through them for the important stuff. Video tutorials are better in every aspect - you can listen to someone explain various things in an accessible manner and watch them do it. Reading a 300+ page grimoire that is tough to comprehend, especially if it's not in your native language and you are not tech savvy is chore few people will enjoy.

That said, I do agree that the software should come with some sort of instructions on how to use it to it's full feature potential, perhaps we should ask the devs to consider doing more official video tutorials like they did with the Mig-3.  It's definitely more accessible and useful, not to mention easier and less time consuming to make and can server as promo material as well.

The first link (Bearcat) point for OFFICIAL 777 manual:

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/16752-il-2bos-user-manual-released-first-edition-english/

Should by this file: http://www.rofmods.com/User_Manuals/IL2_BOS_Manual_English_1011_rev1.zip but www.rofmods.com seems down...?

Chuck Guides ( for BoS, CloD, DCS  is (IMO) better that any "official game manual") is ahead in that topic, or there (don't cover BoM/collector planes):

It is the official manual.

Don't worry, we understand that you're so unprofessional that the concept of reading an aircraft's information in game prior to flying is beyond you. But don't worry, I've seen 8 year olds figure out how to get off the ground, so I'm sure in the course of a year or two you can start a mission...

I guess I am a bit surprised at how toxic the replies are. This is a professional sim and should have a manual. The one that is being touted, is a dead link.  I've got a couple question on using spectate, it's not working for some reason.

Really? You roll in talking smack and are surprised that you're treated the whining brat you're coming across as?
