PapaFlo Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 That's how it's meant to be with these particular exhaust stacks. Thanks Luke! Didn't know that Flo
Nocke Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Honorable mention also to the new shadows, they increase immersion a lot! 1
dburne Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Honorable mention also to the new shadows, they increase immersion a lot! New shadows? Weren't they coming in the next update - 2.012?
pilotpierre Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Great update (with Unreasonable's input). Ever forward Dev's, you are all worth your weights in cocky shit.
PA_Keko_ Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 once again all planes will have the new FM when v2012 is released right now all FM's are the current FMs. https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/354251/vcruntime140dll-is-missing-error.html https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 Tnks!! I hade the problem with the editor and now is Solved!!! Cheers!!
Nocke Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 New shadows? Weren't they coming in the next update - 2.012?Lol - I don't know. Thought they would be coming and perhaps just had a closer look at them as ever before?
JG4_Sputnik Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Yeah they will be released with 2.012 only But the cockpits look better in general due to the sharper instruments.
Voidhunger Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I just have several fights in Bf109g4 against Spitfires (3xBf109 vs 4xSpit all planes veteran) and damned ... Spit is extremely maneuverable . Maybe after FM update it will be easier for the Bf109. I need to change my tactics against Spit now
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Is there some trick to fuel gauge like i-16? Mine was reading 0 with 80% fuel. pilot checks fuel when in level flight every 15 seconds.
CIA_Yankee_ Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I just have several fights in Bf109g4 against Spitfires (3xBf109 vs 4xSpit all planes veteran) and damned ... Spit is extremely maneuverable . Maybe after FM update it will be easier for the Bf109. I need to change my tactics against Spit now Well, that IS what the Spit was known for: a high performance fighter that could maneuver extremely well (as opposed to the Hurricane, which was a low-performer that could maneuver extremely well). The 109 still has the E advantage, especially at the correct timeline. Boom and zoom, never get in a turn fight. It's even more true vs the Spit than the Yak-1 (though I imagine the Yak-1b will outperform the Spit Vb).
Finkeren Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I just have several fights in Bf109g4 against Spitfires (3xBf109 vs 4xSpit all planes veteran) and damned ... Spit is extremely maneuverable . Maybe after FM update it will be easier for the Bf109. I need to change my tactics against Spit now Your tactic in the Bf 109 against the Spit should never be based on maneuverability in the first place. You need to beat it on sheer performance. In the G4 you are faster at most altitudes on combat power vs. his WEP and you climb waaaaay better. The Spit is excellent, but in three key areas it is quite mediocre: Top speed, roll rate and climb rate. Use that to your advantage.
Jade_Monkey Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I was excited about it but I didnt expect to like it so much! The performance in turn fights is amazing, quite lethal. It doesnt seem to bleed much energy when pulling hard on the stick which makes it an incredible plane to get into a turn fight with. Truly an amazing experience in VR.
CUJO_1970 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Turn fights, lol When will you people ever learn? :-) 3

It doesnt seem to bleed much energy when pulling hard on the stick which makes it an incredible plane to get into a turn fight with. I actually found it to bleed a lot of energy when pulling high Gs. Several times today I have entered a fight at ~400kph only to find myself doing 250kph mere seconds later. However, it also accelerates really well and regains the loss very quickly, which is why it all works out in the end.
Nil Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 fantastic job team! so much work done in such tight schedule! congratulations! you are one of the best dev team
HagarTheHorrible Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) I can foresee the Spit being banned or only available in limited numbers on some, if not most, servers. It's not that it's exceptional, it's just that it's an aircraft who's strengths particularly suits the playing style of most players in combat flight sims, either to their advantage or their opponents disgust. I thought it would be a bit of an outdated dog, that had seen it's day and many players would be just a bit underwhelmed by it, but actually it's not half bad. If I was surprised by anything it was that the cockpit seems to be quite roomy (playing in VR) not like the "putting on a glove" that I expected. Edited July 6, 2017 by HagarTheHorrible
-TBC-AeroAce Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) Spit is amazing but it teaches you to conserve ammo! And wtf why are there no servers apart from the small time test ones that have it. Very disapointing !!! Almost evey other plane has been introduced to the main servers on the day apart from the Spit? Edited July 6, 2017 by AeroAce 3
-HF-Aardvark892 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 The Spitfire is one I've been waiting for the most since I found out about it, and it fulfills all my expectations. Absolutely beautiful. Let the SpitWhining Commence! LOL. I was looking forward to another development, though; that of the ability to assign pitch/rudder or aileron trim to trim wheels on joysticks, but it looks like it still has to be done one keypress at a time. May I ask when or if that feature is going to become a reality? I'm not complaining... IL2 Sturmovik Battle of __________ is fantastic. I'm just wondering. Thanks! Tim
dburne Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Spit is amazing but it teaches you to conserve ammo! That is for sure! And save those cannon rounds for when you really need em!

kendo Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) Is anyone else noticing a degradation in the clarity of the instrument gauges? On quite a few aircraft now there is a 'blurriness' on the gauges that wasn't there before. The contrast change is a step back for me unfortunately on my PC. Edited July 6, 2017 by kendo
Missionbug Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) So finally at last one of the lend lease aircraft we have been so eagerly anticipating on the Eastern Front has been added. Gorgeous, she really is the star of the show, thank you very much, really appreciated. And at last another aircraft where I can read the instruments. Hopefully those who have not bought into this so far might give it a go, my involvement with the old IL-2 started when I got the chance to fly the B-239 escorting Blenheim's on the Gulf of Finland map, happy days, may this be in all respects the modern day successor. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. Edited July 6, 2017 by Missionbug 2
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) Congratulations. The Spit is beautiful and very different to fly from anything else in this sim. My biggest challenge, after being accustomed to flying in metric for so long, will be re-calibrating my combat brain to MPH. That's OK though, soon enough I'll have to readjust for the Wildcat as well Edited July 6, 2017 by II/JG17_HerrMurf
NO_SQDeriku777 Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I want to express my appreciation to the Devs for such a fantastic upgrade. The performance increases in my FPS are so great that I am going to shelve my plans to buy new new PC for now and wait for prices to fall even more before I contemplate getting into VR. I hope that the Air Marshall feature comes soon since the only thing better than playing this game is having a lot more people people to play it with!
Gambit21 Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 That's OK though, soon enough I'll have to readjust for the Wildcat as well Get used to looking over your shoulder a bit more as well...for Warrant Officer Yamaha Kawasaki will be on the prowl.
Rjel Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 The Spitfire sure is pretty. Love the Buckeye Don skin too. Never would've expected that to be included as a default skin.
ShamrockOneFive Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Had some more stick time with the Spitfire. Really getting the hang of it... except landings. It looks a bit like this... https://youtu.be/GbWaA1BjR-k?t=50s Bumpsy daisy.... 1
SOLIDKREATE Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Well, this new Spit marks the death of every German plane on the map =o)~
SCU_Server Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 I noticed in Missionbugs screen shots the canopy is open in flight, does this also open the small side door or does that stay closed. ??
pilotpierre Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 F2 and have a look. I havent checked it myself yet.
Guest deleted@83466 Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 It wasn't listed in the change log, but did anybody notice anything different about the optimal mixture on the Yaks? I used to fly with 100% setting up until 4000 meters, and then I would get the tech tip, and manually lean it from there, starting at about 80% setting and then down from there. Today, on a WoL map, I was having to manually lean it all the way, and to satisfy the tech tip, it seems I had to lean it a lot more than previously. Is this just my imagination or did something change?
TG-55Panthercules Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Another amazing update - thanks devs! Great (really great) news - the infamous "bubble of blur" that has plagued us (OK, at least me) all these years is (almost) gone !! There's still a small trace of it, but it's been pushed much farther away from your plane and has become almost unnoticeable on the summer maps and only slightly more noticeable (if you really look for it) on the winter map. FINALLY!! Looks like I've lost my excuse not to spend as much time in BoS/BoM as I've been wanting to all this time. Not so great news (weird, at least) - for some reason, my FPS is now locked at 60, whereas before I was hovering right around the 144 my monitor is capable of. Couldn't find any sort of FPS limiter setting that might have gotten set to 60 by accident/default with the update - anybdy know where it might be or what else the problem might be?

Under settings - graphics there is a "Target FPS" down in the bottom list of options. Mine is set to 60 and currently greyed out, ie cannot change it, while I am sure at some point I could, not that I would want to: I prefer a smooth constant framerate which I am currently getting even at 4HD. TBH I am not sure that I would notice anything much above 60 anyway, but if you want to change it there might have been something in one of the earlier DDs about the FPS limiter and how it worked.
FABR_CpFarias Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 (edited) What happened? After the update my game was giving lag! A friend of mine happened the same thing! Much lag. I can not fly in single player! It's bad. Edited July 7, 2017 by FABPE_CpFarias

It's bad. When you say "Lag", do you mean poor frame rate lag? Poor frame rate can be fixed by updating your graphics driver as was the case with myself and many other users. 707shap_Srbin Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Well, this new Spit marks the death of every German plane on the map =o)~ Disagree. Bf110 is stand stone against it.

Hmm - I found that setting, but mine is set to "off" (as I'm pretty sure it always has been) and is grayed out so I can't change it (which I think is a new development), but my FPS is still locked at 60 for some reason. I'm D/L'ing the latest nVidia driver to see if that changes things - D/L speed from their site tonight has been glacial so it may be tomorrow before I can test it. Yep - just figured that out in my post-driver-update testing. With the game's vsync checked, it's locked at 60 FPS and the target setting is grayed out, but with it off you can change the target setting and the FPS are back to what they were before. And you're right - I didn't see any tearing or other problems with vsync unticked. Gonna enjoy just cruising around looking at the scenery again (and looking for ground targets, too ) Edited July 7, 2017 by TG-55Panthercules
