I feel the same.

Here's probably one of the most stupid questions you guys ever read but I'm only trying to learn something here.

Where are the gunners and their guns in the A20? I only see the forward firing guns, not the ones on board, I also see a window in the back but without a turret.

Could anybody here enlighten me please?

:salute:

It's just work in progress. There is no pilot either if you look closer. My guess is that they havent added all the guns.

It opens and a gun pops out, very similar to the BoM Pe-2.

As a kid, I used to make plastic models of the planes. I got the B-26 model as a birthday present and when I built it, it looked great with all those guns on her side. Since then it has been my number one American bomber  :)

By October of 1940, the USAAC went on order for more Havocs, these being in the newer A-20B model form based on the DB-7A). The A-20B retained its twin engine light attack bomber role along with the A-model's R-2600-11 series radials and glassed-in nose, framed like that of a greenhouse. A slight variation in the design of this nose glass was the most discerning factor between distinguishing the A-20A and A-20B models. Additionally, armament was lessened to an extent, with the A-20B mounting just 2 x 12.7mm nose-mounted (lower fuselage) machine guns, 1 x 12.7mm machine gun in the dorsal position, 1 x 7.62mm machine gun in the ventral position and the two engine nacelle-mounted rear-firing 7.62mm machine guns. To make up for the lessened offensive firepower, the internal bombload was increased to 2,400lbs. Performance remained comparable with the top speed reported at 350 miles per hour, a range of 2,300 miles and a ceiling of 28,500 feet. The US Navy received eight such aircraft but used them in the target towing role as BD-2's. The Soviet Union became a large operator of the A-20B series under the Lend-Lease program, receiving 665 of the 999 production examples under the agreement.

I'd be surprised if unguided torpedoes were routinely used in anti-submarine warfare. A small target that can change its depth...

Make that A-20 mine...but as I recall the front wheel on this plane like the P-39,B-25 ,B-26& B-24 wasn't steerable, it castered ( swung about 30 degrees left & right off center  freely ,that is)-it took some practice to go where you wanted to go.It was said that ground crews could always tell a "newbie" by the way he would wander on & off the taxi way trying to get the hang of getting the aircraft to track the right way...

Il2 is light years ahead of any other title in the area of continuous development and historical fidelity. Thanks for the respect and seriousness unique in the gaming world. New submarines? The last time I sank one of them I was captain in silent hunters. I was special in imploding my own crew. I'm sorry for my English, it's a shame as the politicians of my country are. Of a brazilian virtual pilot. S!

There is a nice chapter in Ed Heinemann's autobiography about the A-20. He was an amazing designer, responsible for, among other planes, the SBD Dauntless, the A-20, the A-1 Skyraider and the A-1 Skyhawk. What a development in aviation he oversaw!

Probably only rivaled by Lockheed's Kelly Johnson when it comes to wide ranging designs and differing eras.

I keep trying to add something meaningful to the discussion of the weekly updates but honestly I'm out of superlatives. I'll leave it at I'm grateful to Jason and the team for all they've accomplished in such a short time. I'm awed by your talents.

Really appreciate the respect given to owners of your released il2 titles by continuing their development as you move forward with Kuban.  Increasing fidelity around the airfields (and the whole gamut of activity) - sweet - shows your attention to detail which all enthusiasts would appreciate and hopefully bring more players into the game.  Super good luck going forward and let's hope it is a commercial winner.

The A-20B is looking great! I'm pretty excited to fly this aircraft for the first time in the sim and I'm also pretty excited about taking it into multiplayer matches.

The A-20 was one of my aircraft of choice when going for a bombing mission almost no matter the circumstance. Low and fast or operating from altitude. This looks to fit the bill nicely!

My A20 checklist. 1. Radial engines yes. 2. Fighter style cockpit setup yes. 3. Bomb load yes 4. Various mission types possible yes. 5. Forward firing armament yes. 6. Performance yes. 7. Beauty yes. Toughness...built like that yes. Conclusion: a great addon. Looking immensly forward. This one wont be in the hanger only. Well done devs.

The Sch is looking awesome! Will you be adding a Type-II B U-boat to go along with it?

Eish yes....landing is not my strong point. But then any landing you can walk away from is a good one.

 a tricycle gear should certainly make it easier! (It doesn't pitch up in the air again after a tough landing)

Will be interesting to see how many people are going to tailstrike this in MP. Anyway, so far it's looking very nice. I'm wondering if we also get a different 'american' bombsight with this one.

The sub is real a tease for how awesome the pacific is going to be!

Very very nice shots.

The Boston is going to be cool.

One question: Since the bombsight has to be controlled by the pilot in this sim, what role will the bombardier have aboard the A-20, will there be anything at all for him to do? Are you even planning on modeling the bombardier position?

 Up !!

Thanks for an other impressive report, really cool stuff.
