Just started flying BoS after buying the founders pack a few years ago,I'm liking it and have a question.  Are there any programs yet that can put the gauges on a secondary monitor? I use Devicelink in Cliffs and Ikarus in DCS and really like  the immersion and being able to see the gauges full size for quick glances ...thanks!

News or updates for External Gauges API for app makers?

The most important data export for an external app API is indicated air speed.

You can then use it to control the speed of a fan blasting air at your face.

Put on those VR goggles, fire-up Flying Circus 1 (or an I-16), and chocks-away!!

:pilot:

PS:  Hmm... the next step after that, I guess, would be to spray scalding oil at your face when there is an engine failure. :-\

Hold on there, we need TAS for that, else your fan speed won't be 100% accurate... this is a sim after all, ugh  ;)

Only if you'd seal your room and take the barometric altitude from the game to control the pressure inside.

Otherwise the assumption that IAS airflow @ground level comes close to TAS airflow at altitude is quite valid.

Cheers!

Bumping post for interest. I have been looking all over and all I can see is that the devs mentioned this once when they announced Kuban and have said nothing on the subject since. Is this going to take years to do? Was hoping I could build a gauge cluster to do this, but if the API isn't coming out soon, I might have to use a cheat engine script to rip these values right out of RAM. Fingers crossed I won't have to.

Hi Guys, just a bump to this topic as it's been a while. Any word on if the API is coming out soon?

Jason has stated that he needs concrete and specific proposals for before contemplating  any new API, not vague wishes for one.

Apparently the API already exists, at least if this post is correct:

What I'm looking for is an app that takes advantage of the API.  I don't know anything about setting up such an app.

No, the post you refer to was a discussion of proposed content, that pre-dates Jason's later comments. There is no API.

AH, ok.  That explains why there is no App at this point.

How... would one go about that? I mean. I'm sure people have tried already? All that is needed is a readout of values that can be seen in each particular cockpit at the moment (IAS,Heading,Radiator open/close values, ball centering etc.)  Those values would then be 'broadcast' either locally or via local network. Values are ingested by a program which ought to work on 2/3 platforms - Windows, Android and/or iOS to allow compatibility with 2nd monitors and wireless devices. The end user should be able to manually adjust the GUI to a degree. And that's pretty much it.

What is the concern about? Would people somehow be able to use it for an unfair advantage?

There are certainly ways that such data can be used to gain an unfair advantage, though I'm not going to discuss them here. As for people proposing a specific API, if anyone has done so, they don't seem to have done it publicly. And I think what Jason was looking for is evidence that the software to use it is going to be available, along with a proper design proposal. Any such API would involve a lot of work, and producing something on spec in the hope that it is what people are after probably doesn't appeal.
