How do I convert a single player mission into co-op?

I built a basic, but fun single player mission to develop my editing skills and would now like to make the mission co-op so I can fly it with my friends.

Intuitively, it would be as simple as setting the mission to co-op, then adding a few more player controlled aircraft, but the editor objects, telling me I can only have 1 playable aircraft in the mission.

Is there an easy fix for this, or do I need to rebuild the whole mission by hand as a co-op?

If there is a fix, what steps do I need to take?

Thanks!

As a bonus thank you, I have posted the mission as an attachment. It is in an alpha state now, but perfectly playable --and editable. Duration is about <90 minutes. Like any historic mission of the period, it feels boring... The mission is also editable, and I don't mind anyone editing it and using it for themselves. Feedback is welcome. It's my first effort, so understand I still have some things to learn. I could sure use a mentor!

You have to replace the human player object with "fakefield" or "fakefield_rnwspawn" objects, which are places that players can "spawn in" to an aircraft. For details, see "Create a Multiplayer Mission" in the IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server Manual.
