Dedicated server running but my friends cant see it

Hi guys

I have a dedicated server running and its successfully registered on the master server.

It  on  a machine that's on a static IP on my network, 192.168.1.101, I have forwarded all the correct ports to that IP 2800, 28100 UDP & TCP and port checker tells me those ports are open when the game server starts up.

I can see my server in the master list (no ping showing) and I can join it and play the missions i'm hosting, however none of my mates can see my server on the server listings.

I can tick off the following

Ports open and showing open on the web

My router has a DMZ pointing to my game PC

My firewalls are configured correctly to allow the traffic through.

So any ideas where to check next, I also host ARMA 3 (use UPNP) and a Conan Exiles server with no issues

Cheers

Have you selected the "External" checkbox in the DServer Configuration dialog?

Hi JimTM

This is what I have set up

Server%20running_zpsgrlys8vz.jpg

I can see the server and join and download the missions and fly, no one else seems to be able to see the server.

Cheers

Shouldn't you server IP be your actual external IP. It looks like you are propagating a non-routable IP to the master server, no?

Well that's what i'm not sure about, I tried using the IP address supplied by my ISP that I found with "whatsmyIP" in the sevver IP field but when I start the server using that IP address I get errors as seen in the pic

Server IP must be set to the IP address of the DServer PC and the ports forwarded to that address. See pg. 328 of my editor manual for instructions on how to get that address.

I have it configured the way you are saying as in my first post, your manual is very helpful with some information on what each past does. I may have not ticked the external tick box which I have now done.

As my server is showing up in the server list then im of the assumption it is on the net, am i wrong in assuming this and it still could show listed but only be over LAN ??, currently waiting to find out if my mates can see the server or not now.

Thanks

192.168.1.101 is a private IP and it is visible only in local network LAN. Many PC have 192.168.101 but they are in separated LAN.

You should set up DServer with your public IP ( router IP visible on the internet) then make port forwarding from public IP to private IP.
Then your DServer is registered to master-server with public IP. If someone try to connect it then he sends IP packet to your router (public IP) and then router forwards them to your PC ( private IP) and connection is established.

On my previous post I wrongly wrote to use Public IP (it was very early in the morning).  You have to forward both TCP/UDP port 28000 and 28100 on your router to 10.0.0.3.

Thanks for all the help, its now working, all I had to do was tick the box external as Jim pointed out, it took a while to find out if it was working as everyone was at work.

Once again thanks for all your help.

Cheers Stephen

Glad to hear it's working for you now. Sorry, I didn't include a description for the "External" checkbox in the manual; I made a note to include a description in the next version.

Hello Jim thx for you IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server Manual

I call my ISP and tell them that you have to move my IP to my own netgear router. So I can play with Port Forwarding
Not the one i get into the house from them i have 2 router 1 from ISP + My own netgear
Noiw i only use the ISP router for my TV  + My own Netgear for wfi + Cable internet

What is the "DServer" ?

I am trying to host Co-op missions. They appear in the Co-Op server list, and I can fly them.
However - my friend can take an aircraft and go to the same airfield - but he is always alone there,
and I can not see him. He is in a "parallel world", so to say.

I'd be grateful for any help!

JimTM - where can I find your "manual" ?

@Wolfram-Harms

I've had this problem with invisible planes a few years ago, but only with some people. It was a bug in the firmware of my router, it wasn't forwarding all UDP packets through NAT properly is my guess. An update of its firmware fixed it. In your case, make sure you are really forwarding the UDP traffic too, not just TCP.

The manual is there:

Okay, thanks. I have a selection there only between TCP or UDP. must I then select UDP rather? (Had it on TCP).

I think you need both, unfortunately.
