Mysticpuma Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Well having had the great news that the Source Code had arrived other parts of our team have been steadily been decoding the current map file and seeing just where some issues currently are. ##All that follows is current Work in Progress and not guaranteed to be included in it's current revision## Firstly, there has been the "Great Lakes" of France that came under scrutiny and with a little more tidying up the plug should have been firmly pulled very soon Before: After: Next comes a surprise for us. Inside the map were hidden features caused by some broken coding. The next images show the difference in fixing small parts of that code. Nothing has been added in the FMB or by a Mission Builder, what you see was already there but hidden by the broken code. Marquis West Before: Marquis West after: Grand Villiers Before: Grand Villiers After: Campagne Les Guines before: Campagne Les Guines afer: Grandvilliers before: Grandvilliers after: Isbergues regained it's Railway station. Before: Isbergues after: So as you can see this is just scraping the surface (actually that could be said quite literally) of the map works. We're sure there is much more to come! Finally as this is about the map work, here are a few pictures of the current work in progress on the English countryside as we steadily make it look more authentic: Oh and finally one more picture. This one shows another fix we started work on. Ground to a halt on but now we're pretty sure we have a good idea of what was going on with the rivers in the distance Before and After: So hopefully that will tide you over for a few days? Looking forward to whatever the future reveals as we delve into the Source Code, cheers, Mysticpuma/Team Fusion Simulations 11
BladeMeister Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) Wow, those are some really cool finds and fixes. Mysticpuma, in the Gladiator video was that the new Textures for the Channel map? If so, that map is really looking good. I had to go back and watch that video a few times because I couldn't decide whether to check the plane details out or be distracted by how good the Terrain looks. Keep up the good work, all at TFS! ACG_Dickie Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Splendid. Sounds like fixing this is a doddle. Shall we say 2 months now for TF5???
Ste_Smith Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Well I'd happily bet that none of that took one iota of knowledge from the source code. So no quick wins there. Some of those shots look stunning, the new fields tetxures in particular show what the ol' girl can do. Whoever did those should be very pleased with themselves.
Nacy Anglais Traduction Still and always updates in photo or video. I dropped COD by missing Team-Fusion update, TFS made us the same speech with photo or video updates, no real update for COD. SCG_Space_Ghost Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 -snip- Before and After: Rivers.jpg -snip- Hey MP, What is this picture showing? The updated lighting engine?
Kling Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I will answer that for MP. The picture mainly shows a bug with distant rivers always looking too wide and big at a distance. It always looked like they flooded the landscape. This is now properly fixed. Now, the picture ALSO show(which is not mentioned by MP) the french landscape being updated with slightly darker colors as the current landscape in game might be slightly too bright. Note, the very distant landscape is NOT reworked yet so that is why you can see a clear difference in color between the distant and close landscape. Do not worry, that is an easy fix once we are happy with colors of the closed in landscape! Cliffs of dover was released in 2011 and it is now 2017, it is time we also update landscapes to match other great simulators like Il2 BOS/BOM and DCS. 2
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Thanks Kling, good to know. I had noticed that the bodies of water seemed less visible in the "After" picture.

Hello Kling Were these distant flooded landscape the cause of all that shimmering that we still (until today )can't get rid of. ( Even with NVIDIA INSPECTOR + RESHADE). If you have a stop gap solution for this shimmering, that would already be a huge Step forward. Thanks for your devotion to the game. Madcop
