Joystick mode using mouse - How to use map without moving aircraft?

Hi Folks.

I've just come back to this game to smash the campaign with the update AI, but I don't have enough space to use a my joystick so decided to set the options in the game as joystick as the controller and use mouse axis to fly the plane. This makes the game play like using a joystick, but with the mouse. I had to cheat a bit and link the rudder and ailerons together, but since I'm mainly doing this offline I don't think I will get much of an advantage.

Problem is that I can't work out how to stop the plane from moving when I press O for the map. Moving the mouse on the map still moves the controls for the plane.

I also noticed using the game this way  it disables tank turrets so in multiplayer I can't fire and shoot in a tank.

I know there is a dedicated mouse mode - set controller to mouse and this will turn your game into an arcade shooter that won't even let you do a sustained roll or loop like using a joystick so that's not going to happen.

Any ideas?

I was wondering even if I could run the map in a web browser on a laptop or something like that, but I don't think that's a feature. I guess another option could be to screenshot the map and use jpeg images to calculate where the plane actually is in the games map. Times like this I wonder why they should sell some paper maps of the maps for navigation, that might be cool to have on your lap as I'm not a bad map reader. I don't own a printer myself.

Printing out the map or using it on a tablet might be the easiest solution for you.

You could use that app if having an Android device https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/19348-release-il-2-tactical-map-android-app/

Another solution might be to use something like JoytoKey to assign the Maus mouse to the axis and then define a separate button to disable the assignment temporarily

Edit. Maus to mouse :)

Hmm - Interesting ideas. I'll checked once again in the game too before installing any 3rd party software.

Map on another computer might be the best option, I don't own a mobile phone or tablet at the moment though :/

Thanks Ivan - Yeah. I forgot that section of the forums existed and been tooling around looking at various things there that look promising. I actually like the printed out option. Be a good bit of fun especially when playing expert.
