Making single player missions multiplayer?

Hi all. Like many others I'm longing for a coop mode.

In the meantime I'm curious if there is a way to make current single player campaigns into multiplayer campaigns? We have a server available to run them on but I'm not sure how to do it or if it's even possible.

It's possible, but you have to know the editor, to change the type of mission from Single (or solo, i don't remember) to Dogfight, and add airfield for players.

You will need to add a fakefield or fakefieldrw spawn point for your player aircraft to spawn in. Also the setting is 'Deathmatch' not 'Dogfight'.

 

For further info I recommend the excellent guides that are available for the Mission Editor.

My friend and I attempted to convert a mission generated with PWCG to a multiplayer mission, but despite spending hours trying to figure it out no airfields we added as linked entities in the editor / or fiddled with excisting one would actually show up on the server - the mission seemed to run fine in the background but no spawns were available. At one point the fake airfields showed up but were greyed out.

 

Essentially all me and my friend are looking for is a way to generate coop mission much like with the existing SP mission generators - nothing fancy, just "go there and kill something, type of things" with obviously a need for some AI palls to help us.

 

Is this something that is still possible to do with newest version of the game? Or is it done perhaps differently? I am asking because the editor had options for "cooperative" mission and each plane had a cooperative start dropdown (I am assuming those are deprecated?)

 

Should I perhaps try this with a different mission generator? Also do I need to somehow link the players / airfields to the generated flights that have waypoints?

Real life pulled me away from this, glad to see it come up.

I spoke with Mr. Wilson of the famed PWCG and he said depending on the ease of implementation and if I could find exactly what was needed to do it that he would see about adding the option to PWCG to make multiplayer missions.
