Outstanding work on the terrain there guys and those new objects are excellent, cannot wait to see those mountains up close and through the various times of day and all.

Maybe all the team could stop work on other areas and just focus on the maps, planes can wait me thinks. ;)

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

New landscape looks fantastic. Cannot await the final Version.

Not sure if you're joking, but the dev team obviously have a couple of dedicated map-creators working on Kuban. The rest of them will hardly be of any use, since maps aren't their expertise.

Really beautiful looking map. Kuban is looking like a really inspired choice.

Looks really good :)

As much as I look forward to the Pacific, flying over this terrain will be amazing.

Why waiting for the release of the Kuban map well there is a free alternative already?

Just scroll on Google 3D map of the area and imitate the sound of a plane with your mouth. :pilot::fly:

https://www.google.nl/maps/place/Krasnodar,+Kraj+Krasnodar,+Rusland/@43.6719571,39.8793113,2539a,20y,358.88h,82.15t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x40f04564714535b3:0xf720794f56c4beb6!8m2!3d45.0392674!4d38.987221?hl=nl

But more seriously, the screenshots look nice.

Actually you can get google earth and I believe you can fly a plane in it :)

Ahh someone already said thus, oh well...

This map will be some fun flying, sight seeing, and target hunting.

Planning approach to ground pound and making sure not to end up on the mountain side :)

Will wind be effected by the mountains????

The ridge lines out there are way too straight and the mountain tops too pointy

It's true the mountains could use more triangles, but overall I think it already looks very good, especially for a first attempt. Very nice work on the procedurally generated layers of snow and vegetation. I'll be happy to fly around as a tourist, just looking at the scenery.

This is exciting stuff, especially delicious for the upcoming VR environment without a doubt.

And having a gutter cleaning business, it's nice to see that on the Greek looking building, you've not only included the guttering but the downpipes too. Nice detail, lol.

Hole Lee Shyt, those mountains look awesome! I can't wait to fly those valleys as low and as fast as I can :)

Off topic:

Han's sword doesn't appear to be a claymore in either of the two meanings of the word (basket-hilted broadsword/backsword or short two-handed sword with pronounced forward-swept guard)

It looks like a replica 15th century longsword and if I'm not mistaken the pommel looks like a peened type very popular in Ireland.

Sorry for offtopic :-)

Yes, I'm know something about swords :-)

Regarding one on my avatar:

Original is:

original.jpeg

Officially it's a sword of 12th centry Prince Vsevolod of Pskov:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vsevolod_of_Pskov

But actualy, original Vsevolod's sword was missed in fire or stollen. But it was famous, and when in 16th cenrty Ivan IV "the Terrible" have wished to visit Pskov - he wished to see this sword too.

So Pskov city authorities were "a little bit scared" and put many efforts to find some kind of replacement. So they have found classic 2-hand sword blade of 15th centry and 12th centry hilt. They were so hurry that they even have set hilt's crossguard inverted:

So it's a sword with very funny history :-)

Yes I was.

I know from experience of doing different things in the old game that while some do have many abilities usually they specialise in a particular discipline.  :salute:

I would still rather have a new map though than many versions of the same planes.  ;)

Take care.

Han, you are a man of many talents! That is awesome! Long ago when I was still heavy into swords I had a custom late style Viking sword made.

Hey Han; I hope you took Herzog von Tirol out the back afterwards and kicked the [Edited] out of him   :salute:

Absolutely amazing. I'm more into lighter things since I'm rather a skinny guy, so I favor rapiers and sabers. Have been practicing fencing in the past and I feel like I should get back to it. But damn, what you do in that armor and with that sword is just exceptional  ;)

Nice one Han. Looks like you know a bit about codpieces too! :-)

Daniel's sword weighs a ton. But it feels like you can chop a Toyota in half with it.

Not my poor Toyota  :o:

Excellent work on the map guys. If I wasn't told these were WIP I'd say the map was ready to be released by the looks of those screenshots. Your team really out did themselves.

Wow... looking great!

Can't wait to fly over this map. Thanks for the DD!

Don't forget that it's a screenshot which is a freeze render. Think that in plane you flight over at some speed, so no need to be more detailed. The goal is to keep the best render for the best performance. And what i see is perfect for me. it looks like real (for me).

AFAIK there was talk of three maps:

1) Murmansk -- I think the work on this one was stopped because of personal reasons of the builder

2) Odessa -- they are steadily progressing with their work, while waiting for some Kuban-tech.

3) Karelia -- A Finish group wants to do that one. I think it was meant for 1946 in the first place.

Imagine Kuban with trees and towns, villages and moving water :D

Looks promising, really hope this series makes you guys a sh@te load of money so the hits just keep on coming!

Also guys don't forget that this is still a WIP not intended for release until June. This is the first attempt so I am sure the final result will be even more spectacular.

Great work,

it looks sooo good, can't wait to jump into my trusty La5 and zip through the valleys and mountains, I'm not even fussed about combat, just joy riding!

Cheers

Once I saw a development plan for battle of kuban. There was listet everything which should be released each month. I forgot where I saw this plan.
