Guest deleted@50488 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Great News, as usual.... If only their could be mountain wind / turbulence effects :-) I could finally soar too, in IL.2!!! Edited February 10, 2017 by jcomm
Cpt_Cool Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Bilbo would be pleased, (I want to see mountains again; MOUNTAINS Gandalf!)
lurch9494 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 This is looking very promising indeed and will make a nice contrast to the current terrain in BoS and BoM. Thanks for regular updates, I hope it will encourage more to pre-order and is great for those of us who have already 'invested' to see the progress unfold
=GM=GJL2 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 excellent maps. but hope they will not be the performance killer... hope u to do a nice optimization.
PA-Sniv Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 excellent maps. but hope they will not be the performance killer... hope u to do a nice optimization. That's why they left FPS counter on!
Lusekofte Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Very nice looking mountains there, going to be fun.
Finkeren Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 excellent maps. but hope they will not be the performance killer... hope u to do a nice optimization. Tbh I don't see why mountains would make the map more of a performance hog. I'm pretty sure your CPU/GPU doesn't care about topographical elevation. If you fly low over any of the other maps, you'll notice they are far from flat, so I kinda doubt the Kuban map will have significantly higher polygon count, and probably it will have less trees as well. If they use higher-resolution textures it might lower performance, obviously, and the new water effects are also unaccounted for so far.
oneeyeddog Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 its going to be so much fun to fly these mountains and valleys. Thanks!
Bando Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 It'll be so wonderful to fly over the mountains and navigate through that. Thanks for the pictures.
curiousGamblerr Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Gorgeous! Really looking forward to navigating those mountains with low cloud cover. Do any of the Kuban buffs know how high the mountains in the map area we're getting tend to be? Edited February 10, 2017 by 19.GIAP//curiousGamblerr
Bullets Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 As long as we don't end up flying into invisible cliffs like we do on the ROF Channel map I think the new map will be awesome!!! DD_Arthur Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Wow #2. Looks fantastic Han New map looks very promising. If the team really wants to get rich it should use this tech for a fantasy map and create a dragon themed module. I really think you're onto something here unreasonable. Dragons being slayed by a lissom young lovely in a fur bikini wielding a bleedin' great sword? Gotta' be a winner

I can't say for certain but some quick searches pertaining to the mountains around Krasnodar lists its tallest peak at over 10000 feet. http://www.russianlessons.net/russia/krasnodar/map-of-krasnodar-krai-large.png -snip- Dragons being slayed by a lissom young lovely in a fur bikini wielding a bleedin' great sword? -snip- Sure... As long as they model the claymore in Han's profile picture. Edited February 10, 2017 by 4./JG52_Space_Ghost 1
Finkeren Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Do any of the Kuban buffs know how high the mountains in the map area we're getting tend to be? From what I can see on the map, the southern part will include the peak Fisht (2868m above sea level) but not the highest in the region which is Tsakhvoa (3345m). So the elevation will definately influence our flying (in the South East part of the map anyway) as the peaks will be at or above normal flying altitude of most players online. 1

Yes, something just under 3000m - but that's only in the extreme southeast corner. The rest of the map is at a much lower elevation. The range running along behind Gelendzhik and Novorossiysk, for example, is around the 650m mark, i.e. about 2000 feet. Cheers. Edited February 10, 2017 by 216th_Cat 1
DD_Arthur Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Claymores? To be historically accurate that would involve Scottish women. In which case you can forget about lissom young lovelies......
Finkeren Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Sure... As long as they model the claymore in Han's profile picture.Off topic: Han's sword doesn't appear to be a claymore in either of the two meanings of the word (basket-hilted broadsword/backsword or short two-handed sword with pronounced forward-swept guard) It looks like a replica 15th century longsword and if I'm not mistaken the pommel looks like a peened type very popular in Ireland. Custard Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Beyond my wildest expectations to be quite honest, and to think that this is with no trees or ground objects yet. Absolutely cannot wait for the final product. Edited February 10, 2017 by Custard

I know more about prototype autocannons than I do swords.
audiultx Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Looks just stunning. I can't wait to be able to fly over there :D
Irgendjemand Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Looking really good. Thanks for the headsup!
LLv24_Zami Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Beautiful! It will be much fun flying there, excellent work as usual
6./ZG26_McKvack Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 oh gawd Love the snow patches on the mountains. Look so good!
Juri_JS Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I am a little worried how the AI will cope with such a mountainous map.
Uufflakke Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Why waiting for the release of the Kuban map well there is a free alternative already? Just scroll on Google 3D map of the area and imitate the sound of a plane with your mouth. https://www.google.nl/maps/place/Krasnodar,+Kraj+Krasnodar,+Rusland/@43.6719571,39.8793113,2539a,20y,358.88h,82.15t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x40f04564714535b3:0xf720794f56c4beb6!8m2!3d45.0392674!4d38.987221?hl=nl But more seriously, the screenshots look nice.
Rjel Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Very pretty, it almost looks photo realistic in those screenshots. I'm eager to get a chance to fly in and around those peaks.
JG300_Olrik Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Amazing landscape I can't wait to fly over... and if only we could soaring too ! Beautiful.

Trooper117 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 The screenshots are great.... These are WiP pics, so I will be looking forward to the finished articles... Good work!
NumeroX Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I cannot wait to litter this terrain with the wrecks of my victims!!! HAHAHA...
