BlackHellHound1 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) Updated on 12-03-2018 Hello there fellow skinners, My 4K Bf 109 F-2 template is ready for use. This template is built with the use of my Bf 109 F-4 template. I changed the dirt effects and remade the scratch pattern to create some difference between the F-2 and F-4 This is coupled with a few structural changes to make it a true F-2 template. You can download the New Bf 109F-2 Template from the Official Skin Template thread . This new template matches the officially released 4K Bf 109F-2 skins, normal map, and damage model. Have a look at this post if you are looking for the Bf 109 F-4 template. I am looking forward to seeing your awesome skins with this template! If you have made any Bf 109F-4 skins with this template. Feel free to share them in this topic. BlackHellHound1 The images below are outdated and are no longer available in the template. The template contains the new official default skin. A few more pictures for you guys Edited January 8, 2019 by BlackHellHound1 1 4
ICDP Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Great work BHH, thaks for all the hard work on these.
Jade_Monkey Posted February 9, 2017 Posted February 9, 2017 Looking forward to the normal maps. I can see that some parts of the default normal map don't quite match with the new 4K skins.
BlackHellHound1 Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 (edited) Hello there fellow pilots, I have adopted the F-4 normal map for the F-2. I made a few minor changes but not too many since the 2 planes are nearly identical. I have completely rebuild the normal map. You can see all changes in my F-4 Normal Map post. Warning: This 4K Normal Map differs greatly from the original normal map and skins. This means that this normal map will only work with skins which are made with my 4K Bf 109F-2 Template! Therefore, I advise you only use skins made with my 4K Bf 109F-2 Template when you install this normal map. I will add the normal map download to all my 4K skins from now on. Special message to skinners: With these new effects it is no longer needed to have the fabric effects on the skin itself. (It looks quite ugly, in my opinion) I, therefore, advise all skinners that have my 4k Bf109F-4 Template to remove the folder called "Fabric Effects" which can be found in "4K Advanced Detail\4K Structural effects". I have already removed it in the template download. Here are some images from the F-4. They are nearly identical to the F-2. You can find more pictures here. BlackHellHound1 Posted March 7, 2018 Author Posted March 7, 2018 (edited) Hello there fellow pilots, In the past months, I have learned a lot while working on the IL-2. Many of these effects are quite nice to apply to the Bf 109F's as well. I have taken this opportunity to revisit the Bf 109F's. Starting with the F-2. There were a few small flaws in the structure of the template. Mostly small stuff except for the fuel hatch on the left side below the cockpit. I made it larger and moved it based on some new images I acquired. The biggest changes are made to the normal map. I enhanced the existing effects and added several new ones. Of course, the structural changes mentioned above have been added as well. Lastly, I rebuild the Alpha Channel with all the new effects and tweaked some of the existing stuff. I have also decided to leave out the "Late" version of the plane. Although it is nice to have, the late version does not match the normal map. Since the difference between the 2 planes is quite small, I felt no real need to keep it. !! This update changes the base structure of this plane. This means it won't work with the old versions of this template !! I will release this update once the F-4 is done as well. BlackHellHound1 :salute: Here are some images to keep you calm while I work on! Edited March 8, 2018 by BlackHellHound1 1 7
BlackHellHound1 Posted March 12, 2018 Author Posted March 12, 2018 (edited) !!! Major Bf 109F-2 Template and Skin Update !!! Hello there fellow pilots, I have revisited the Bf 109F-2 template and skins. This time armed with the knowledge I gained during the IL-2 project. You can read the changes in my Skin museum. !! Note: These structural changes mean that it does not match the old template anymore. !! I advise that all skins made with my templates are updated with this new template. The templates and skins can be downloaded via their original links or via the links below. As usual, all files include the normal map and installation instructions. This version of the template is outdated. Go to the official skin template thread for the newly updated version. You can find the new F-4 template and skins in my Museum or in the 4K F-4 post. BlackHellHound1 Posted March 17, 2018 Author Posted March 17, 2018 (edited) Hello there fellow pilots, I have updated the template file from .PSB to .PSD I have made no changes to the template itself. It should now be much easier for Gimp users to open the files. As usual, You can download the templates from the old link. BlackHellHound1 Edit: As pointed out by Psyrion, the effects of the "Exhaust Grime" and "Belly Oil Leaks" don't show in Gimp. I added compressed layers of these effects with correct colours in the templates as well for Gimp users. Edited March 17, 2018 by BlackHellHound1 Small Fix 2

There are other threads for posting personal skins.
BlackHellHound1 Posted May 5, 2018 Author Posted May 5, 2018 (edited) @Junjun_Nikurasu You are free to post any skins made with my template you want to share here. That is what this thread is for. Pictures and download links. However, any issues you have with other people or threads are not welcome here. Especially if it is the reason for posting in the first place. Keep it clean so that others can easily find skins without having to go through a giant mess of irrelevant posts. BlackHellHound1 Edited May 5, 2018 by BlackHellHound1 1
BlackHellHound1 Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 The updated and much-improved template that was used for the Official 4K Bf 109F-2 skins has been shared via the Official Skin Template thread. Old links to the outdated template have been removed. If you want to improve your F-2 skins or make some new skins, the new template is the way to do it. Good luck everyone. BlackHellHound1 3
Jade_Monkey Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 You did a great job!! Right now the best default skins by far in the entire game!! 1
BlackHellHound1 Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 Hello there fellow pilots, I have 2 more 4K F-2 skins for you guys. An early version of the Johannes "Hannes" Trautloft skin (before it was repainted to the version we have in-game) and a 12.JG 51 Yellow 5 skin. These 2 were originally part of my set to be implemented into the game but the 17 skins are plenty. As usual, they are available with and without Hakenkreuz. You can find the download link in the first post of my museum. I hope you guys enjoy them! BlackHellHound1 1 2
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Is there a way to convert this to psd for xcf (gimp) format? Unfortunately Gimp can't open psb.

Unfortunately Gimp can't open psb. Not the first time this has happened I forgot to change the file format from .PSB (Photoshop Big for files over 2GB) to .PSD. I have already sent a message to Jason with a fix (.psd). You should be able to use the new file as soon as he updates the download link. BlackHellHound1 Edited January 13, 2019 by BlackHellHound1 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Looking forward to it than and thanks for the work.
SOLIDKREATE Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I have an F-2 I will add this weekend that has some pretty interesting historical information on it that I happened upon. I am starting it today because the cross stripe camo is going to be a b--h* to make and line up. The aircraft is from 6./JG54 and was actually killed by the very aircraft that he just shot down. I'd post the photo here but it's on my phone and I am at work right now.
RedeyeStorm Posted December 1, 2019 Posted December 1, 2019 (edited) I am having an issue with the template. I downloaded it twice (from the official link) and I can only see the 'readme'layer clearly. The rest is grey and pink. I can see the outline of the 109. I openend the PSD in Gimp. Doesn't it work with Gimp or am I doing something wrong? Never mind found it. Well I found it. It appears that the layer '4k weathering' is corrupt or something. When I disable this layer I get the camo colors back. Edited December 1, 2019 by [Pb]RedeyeStorm

When I disable this layer I get the camo colors back. Its not "corrupt" Some adjustment of the layers is needed. Switch of the layer groups and work through them one by one. Some layers like "water streaks" and often "shadows" may have had some treatment in PS that befuddles Gimp. Those layers need to be dragged out of their layer group and above them in order for them to show correctly (probably a clever way but thats what i do). Additionally, when you open it its asks you if you want to convert the coding to sRGB - choose "no". This will stop things like the exhaust soot showing as red. I used gimp with this excellent templete. I just takes a little extra effort.
