=38=Tatarenko Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) LaGG compass still broken. Edited December 6, 2013 by =38=Tatarenko
IbisWTE_Ibis Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I'm unable to get pitch trim working at all. Does anyone else have this problem? I have tried changing it to an axis and new keys also mouse buttons but nothing will move the trim. Is it enabled? It's impossible to dogfight without it. thanks Ibis.
IbisWTE_Ibis Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Thanks Tatarenko still can't get it to work. cheers, Ibis. Edited December 6, 2013 by WTE_IbisIbis
SR603-McMurdo Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Working and for early days looks good nice hit effects cockpit fire and the downed plane pilot bailout is to die for nearly gund the shoots to see what would happen but that wold be wrong of me keep up the good work devs . Oh and please plug the F4's flare tube it's cold plenty in that cockpit with out a blast of freezing air coming in from that open port
tempered Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Why do you have "unlocks" in a fighter sim? Do we have to pick up mushrooms or shoot gold stars to get them unlocked? Are there easter eggs behind certain cloud formations? In other words, I think it's silly. 1
HotPursuit Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Thanks Tatarenko still can't get it to work. cheers, Ibis. Ibis the Bf109 doesn't use the "pitch trim" control. There is another setting further down the list called "Adjustable stabilizer". This is the one used for the 109.
IbisWTE_Ibis Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Many thanks HP, silly me thought "pitch trim" meant trim the pitch, what a nong. cheers m8 Ibis.
Ohwa Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 dogfights are aweeeesome guys you did a really great job i could play it for decenies

Are there easter eggs behind certain cloud formations? In other words, I think it's silly. Do you really think that is likely, or are you just trying to be provocative? Read Dev Diary 44. From memory, and correct me if I'm wrong, It says that current version owners have all the planes (though standard edition won't include 190 and La5) but later there will be another version at a lower price in which players can play to unlock aircraft. Many thanks HP, silly me thought "pitch trim" meant trim the pitch, what a nong. cheers m8 Ibis. I suppose you managed to foul up the old IL2 "Set no auto mission progress on to off" setting as well? Some people are beyond help.
newbiereborn Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I'm having a problem with throttle setting, which is weird because it worked fine the last two runs. Basically, the throttle works fine on the ground but once I'm in the air, I get on/off throttle position only....any idea why? thanks alot

Are there easter eggs behind certain cloud formations? In other words, I think it's silly. Consider the developers.. and stop being silly. My thoughts were the same as Tempered's when I first heard about unlocks for BOS (actually same thinking still). To my mind they're used in fantasy games or whatever and I was somewhat surprised to see that they'll be in BOS. I hope the concept works because to me at this stage it still seems silly. Time will tell; it might be great.
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 7, 2013 1CGS Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Consider the developers.. and stop being silly. Huh? Didn't you have to fly that mission to Moscow in your 109 where you dogfight Stalin in a MiG-15 in order to get the higher-octane fuel and "no freeze" oil? Edited December 7, 2013 by LukeFF
M4rgaux Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Imho unlock are a great thing. It might give a purpose to solo play and make us fly plane we wouldn't normaly. Moreover it's like "normal", you didn't always have bombs under you're wings nor would you had them your 1st day of flying... 3

=38=Tatarenko Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Not for a while I hope! Messers at the top.
Rjel Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Consider the developers.. and stop being silly. +1 I hope down the road, one of the unlocks will be rose colored glasses so everyone can be happy. Whether unlocks add to the game at this point nobody knows but why should anyone be worried about it now? It hasn't even been implemented yet. 1
Rakow Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 LaGG-3's compass reads South when flying North.

Volkoff Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 (edited) When it comes to the df mission, sometimes my frame rates freeze up or gets a bit choppy, but I think it has to do with my settings or something else because I am suddenly getting the same issue with ROF. ROF usually runs like a dream for me. I will have to do testing before I can really claim that I have a BOS related bug or problem. As far as the Alpha, I have nothing but good things to write about the Alpha. I appreciate the AI dogfight mission. I am having a grand time of it. Thank you to the team for all of their efforts. hiro Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 (edited) It was shocking at first. The quality, or lack thereof, just blew me away. These guys were hollowing a whole in a nose cone to fit that darn heavy cannon. And it fired so slowly I thought nothing could be hit with it. Back in the States they'd never do that. Except that it worked. Nevena, the brunette with the nose that twitched when she laughed, dimples and all, could bag a hun at 200 meters. Meters, yards, was still getting used i to it. Even to the fact girls could be found in the 'pits. I had dreams of getting mushrooms that made my ship shoot fireballs, flying through silver rings and golden arches to get bombs, and going up against Stalin cruising in a fast plane with no propeller that shot past me while standing still. Or the Germans having this thing that look like a big wing cutting through the wind. Man and we had planes that had coils that shot out lightening bolts. Even a aircraft carrier that could disappear before your eyes, and a bomber that could become a ghost and fly through buildings. Wonders. Dreams. But I awoke. Should have went to the Navy with my buddy, but the government was insistent I take this role. Another set of cobras. Man, the Army Air Corps could have their butts up where the sun don't shine. Pull off the armor, and the cobra lived up to its name. We could use these, after all the Messers could be taken down with a cobra bite, with ease if it's all set up right. The girls did that all the time. I wish I could see Jerry's face after realized someone with hair and perfume downed him. I should be thankful. Flying is just a beautiful thing. Even if it was cold out here. Cold, mushrooms, fireballs, and a great sandbox to play in. Almost as good living as a test pilot. I saw the new fighter, the one that used a limey engine. Always be thankful. Advent would be spent in some camp but Nevena's blonde friend with the Mae West thing going on . . . we had something. Thankful. At least I'd woken up and there was no Stalin in a fighter faster than any bird made, no bouncing mushrooms, or some flaming eye wanting the golden ring. I could use a hamburger though. But reality was speeding across the tree tops, watching the snow race under me. Feeling the rumble of the engine in my chest, and smoke of a good start in my eyes. The stench of petrol and being alive. Thankful. Edited December 9, 2013 by hiro

I can be an unlock whore as much as anyone but that is much more expected from arcade games & FPS games. Don't mix progression unlocks with the word "simulator". Doin that is silly.

Sorry DEV team I have to agree with this one. We should just have to pay for map packs and aircraft. I'd love to buy a Mediterranean theater campaign pack. Then if you want to do unlock purchases we would have to buy the 'Trop' filter.
FlatSpinMan Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Remember that any unlocks would be for cheaper versions of the game, not the regular ones, so it is unlikely to affect people posting now. Also, and I might be wrong, unlocks come from playing, not paying.
FuriousMeow Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) Unlocks are from playing not paying. I'd like to see those objectionable to the unlocks to post what unlocks there are. If I were to say unlocks were 109 gunpods, how many 109 pilots would be worried that they couldn't have the gunpods? I know I wouldn't. Edited December 10, 2013 by FuriousMeow

They had most everything free (progression based) then half-way through development "Oh let's charge them for things they already have!".

That's like going into dollar general and then finding out things cost far more than a dollar. War Thunder is the dollar general of flight games.
DasEchteTFisch Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I like the unlocks in a flight sim. Do you really have to fly with gunpods and bombs in your first flight? Remember in the Luftwaffe only some "better" pilots could get gun modifications. Normal pilots just were able to change their ammo. So if this is a simulation then it is more relistic to get some kills first before upgrading your plane. Also most of the fighter pilots(bf109) won't need bombs... they want to shoot planes, not kill trees... to shoot down a LaGG3 you don't need any gunpods, as you have seen in the last access.
BraveSirRobin Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I think the objection most people have about unlocks is the fact that they involve flying SP missions. Lots of people only fly MP and have no interest in flying in SP. It would be nice if there was some way to unlock the mods in MP. Perhaps Inga could include a weapon mod in her letter letting me know how much she admires my sacrifice for the Fatherland.
JtD Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Interesting observation.....russian thread for update has 50+K views, while this is only 6k. That's probably proportional to developers interaction with Russian and international community. First page in the Russian forum has 13 developer replies, this topic has 1.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I see the way they are doing unlocks far more simulation based than having all the weapons available at the get go. You must prove you are a "good " pilot first. Then you will get the different weapons for different missions. Just my take.
Sim Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I read somewhere that unranked multiplayer servers will have all mods and skins available without any unlocks. Not sure if this is a compromise? On paper the unlock system doesn't look good, but maybe once we see it in game it will make more sense.

Except for some specific top aces (and not in all air forces), pilots didn't decide which kind of material they will use and didn't "unlock" them... HQs decided for them, this including plane type and armament variants. The unlock features are gamey feature, I don't see how they can be related to any historical mechanism. That said, I don't care about SP having this gamey feature. I just hope MP will not have it, it would be a big constraint for online wars.
