-=PHX=-SuperEtendard Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) Awesome news! Great work devs! no, G-2 has less drag, due to the retractable tail wheel and the missing wing bumbs. making the top speed a good bit higher Yes, according to the IL-2 1946 stat card, the G-2 with 1.42 ata has a max speed of 666 km/h, making it the fastest Bf 109 until the arrival of the G-10 version (or G-6/AS, don't know which came first) This is how this community works:Offer your hand and they will grab your entire arm. There is no end to the requests. For every improvement the devs make, the community demands 3 more. I see your point, but this implementation just opens the door for so much, to further expand the lineup which would add a lot of variety to the actual scenarios, just a couple examples: -G-2 with 1.42 -F-4 without 1.42 -Yak-1 with M-105P/PA -LaGG-3 with M-105 P/PA If the devs manage to do this it would be some of the best things to the sim, as it's an opportunity to expand the variants without taking space of collector planes or new expansions, which can be dedicated to brand new models. I don't see it as some sort of 'demand' but rather as some sort of encouragement, to keep doing this great job upgrading the sim I take from the wording in the Dev Diary that it's locked to the U17 loadout. So if you want 1.65 ATA you need to take bomb racks and/or additional armour too. At least that's my understanding. Just drop the bombs after take off? I'm already seeing this happening Edited February 3, 2017 by SuperEtendard 2
1CGS Han Posted February 3, 2017 Author 1CGS Posted February 3, 2017 Looks like one note should be added. M-82F - it will be an additional modification for existing La-5 which will be possible to select before mission. 9
Finkeren Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 No, you are right. Gordon says the teardrop canopy was added from the 9th batch (November 1942) of the La-5F production series. So that would make 800 La-5Fs with the old style canopy, in addition to any old La-5 airframes upgraded with the new engine, right? That's a pretty big number, fairly significant for BoK timeframe.
Matt Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 The La-5F FM already exists, all the other FM for G-2 with 1.42 or Yak-1 with PA etc. do not. That is a difference.
Danziger Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 This is how this community works: Offer your hand and they will grab your entire arm. There is no end to the requests. For every improvement the devs make, the community demands 3 more. I'm pretty sure they knew it was coming when the announcement was made. I'm also sure we don't have to ask because they would add it when time is available. The announcement seems like reported results of testing something they want to implement and letting us know for the possibilities of the future.
Finkeren Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Looks like one note should be added. M-82F - it will be an additional modification for existing La-5 which will be possible to select before mission. I think we all got that. It's not really a new aircraft, just an engine upgrade. Still, adding the M-82F to an La-5 airframe would technically make it a La-5F. Do you plan on making it so that selecting the M-82F changes the designation of the aircraft from La-5 s.8 to something like La-5F s.3, the same way selecting the blister turret on the Pe-2 s.87 chanches it to a Pe-2 s.110?

Still, adding the M-82F to an La-5 airframe would technically make it a La-5F. Yes, earliest La-5F have had only engine modification, 3 fuel tanks and no skirting comes later. Tear-drop canoly comes only from series 26. 8
dhillr Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 La-5 modification with new engine is a surprising news! Great work devs and thank you.

[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Great update, with the 190a3 turning into such a beast having an La-5f equivalent makes sense. A5 with 6 cannons, just crazy firepower.
Jason_Williams Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 This was something we were able to squeeze in. We do not have ample time to make lots of engine mods like you are asking. Even these require much work and adds time to our already tight schedule. It is unlikely we will have time to make anything further this year in regards to engine modifications.. Jason 10
Matt Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Do you say that's almost ready? No, i meant to say that people are comparing apples and oranges. The La-5F is essentially a La-5 with its engine time limit for boost mode removed and nothing else. That's a simple fix and adding a Yak-1 with PA etc. would require a lot more work. 2

Well, the M-82F also supposed to be easier to keep cool at take off power, som maybe some changes to the temperature model, but still no change in FM.
76IAP-Black Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Guys, you provide even more than you have promised or anounced, that you should be clear to everyone, thanks again for this great job on this sim and thanks for having xmas every month! It was a good choice to preorder BOK!!!! Thanks
6./ZG26_McKvack Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Great news. I'm guessing the 190 fans will be very happy with the A-5. Especially the latest FM update and now this!
150GCT_Veltro Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 The Ash-82A was very sensitive to cylinder head temperature for safe running and optimum performance best conditions were achieved between 200 and 220 degrees Celsius whereby if pilots allowed temperatures to exceed this the resultant overheating often caused loss of cylinder head or indeed complete disintegration of the cylinder its self. It also suffered a short spark plug life substandard oil pump capacity and a tendency for exhaust pipes to burn through. This led to the joint development of the Ash-82F, Ash-82FN & Ash-82FNV engines. The Ash-82F first appearing on La-5 planes in December 1942. The new engine produced improved performance above 1500metres (4921 ft) but was still aspirated by a conventional carburetor. Some info. http://www.airpages.ru/eng/ru/la5f.shtml
=EXPEND=Capt_Yorkshire Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 cool stuff . looking forward to tonight's sorties and a few beers.
Fauster Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Fantastic news. Can not wait for La-5F or 1.65 A5. Loving the direction this sim is going.
Jizzo Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 The pace of development is unbelievable! So much appreciate the ammount of passion put into the sim, keep up the fantastic work! 2
216th_Peterla Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Excelente trabajo el de este grupo de desarrolladores, sin ninguna duda. Regards
JG300_Olrik Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Fw 190's week ! And all those amazing news... Thanks to devs team. JaBo powaaa

Jason Getting the early -5F is ample work and much needed with the A3 FM improvements. The Fw has become the beast we in the West have always read about. Thank you for the tireless work. Even as a Luftie, this M-82F news may be the most exciting post regarding BoK to date.
csThor Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Interesting concept to combine the Ausreißhilfe with specific loadouts. Clever thinking. But ... For the love of god, please, let Panzerbar do a better default texture for the Fw 190 A-5. He did such a good job with the previous aircraft and that texture is IMO simply not up to their quality. 3
Gambit21 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Underpromise and over-deliver. Way to go guys - yet again.
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 3, 2017 1CGS Posted February 3, 2017 For the love of god, please, let Panzerbar do a better default texture for the Fw 190 A-5. He did such a good job with the previous aircraft and that texture is IMO simply not up to their quality. Yes, I'd also like to see a skin that is more representative of the Eastern Front. This current one is just a generic factory gray job with a yellow fuselage stripe added.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Thx for the excellent news. I have one question - is the team still working on the announced fixes to the yaw-roll coupling and possible wobble sources ?
Nil Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Nice job guys, but please remember to sleep at night 1
216th_Peterla Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I'm with csThor and LukeFF petition about Panzerbar if he's available. Regards
CUJO_1970 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Just curious with new Kuban map will there be any interest to include FW190A-5 long range jabo variant (FW190A-5/U8) with 2 300 liter fuel tanks on outboard wing stations? This was serial produced as FW190G-2.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) This week is incredible, thx for the nice DD! Didn't expect the La-5F modification but it's a nice suprise. The La-5 seems a bit underrated and could use some sth to make it more interesting. The IL-2 also looks sweet with a proper gunner station. Edited February 3, 2017 by 6./ZG26_5tuka
Bando Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Dev team; you are a great couple of people!! Awesome.
keeno Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 incredible work, the pace of updates and diaries is amazing. You guys are machines!!!! Cheers n keep it coming.
FlyingNutcase Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 We're all very lucky that 777 Studios seems to have a "1%er" dev team that can stick to a development plan and even better it.
Adj Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 This is very good news, coming so soon after the recent update. The A5 sounds a formidable aircraft: can't wait.
SOLIDKREATE Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 After learning about the A-5; I feel all conflicted now. I may just have to start up 4./JG54 (Jabo). And I feel very sorry for any IL-2 or LaGG that still thinks it is protected from this beast. 3
