Bearcat Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 This forum was opened one year ago today. Many of us came on board within the following week. One year ago today there was not even a rumor that we would be where we are today. To see where we are now is IMO a great thing. To Jason, Loft and every member of the 1CGS team.. a heart felt thank you. In the past year you have kept your word and you have been about as clear and concise as any software developer I have ever seen or heard of in spite of what few bumps there were along the way. It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve this community along with my fellow mods and to be a part of something of this quality. I am sure that I am not alone in this sentiment and the prospect of being about as certain as one can be, given the nature of unforeseen events, that within the next 3-6 months I will have a working next generation IL2 with a community thousands strong and a developer team that has in effect redefined what flight sim developers should be doing is delightful to say the least. 12 months ago this very day none of this was on anyone's radar except the people who were putting it together. Now we are waiting with baited breath for what promisies to be the next generation sim many of us have been waiting for since the middle of last decade. When I consider some of the other sims that have been released over the past few years.. some un finished.. some abandoned .. some still works in progress.. and not finished works in progress .. like IL2 but unfinished works in progress.. to see how far this team has come in the time they have done it gives me a great deal of confidence in the future. Well done... keep it rolling .. and thank you team. Tomorrow looks bright. 6
W1ndy Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Yes, this in just one year is phenomenal. We are a lucky bunch
Panzerlang Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) The flip-side of CloD. Prost! Edited December 5, 2013 by JG3-Siggi
Bando Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Yep, great stuff is coming. Tomorrow looks bright indeed. Bright from the muzzle flashes, from expectation and anticipation. Bright!
HippyDruid Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Well that went quick! Happy Anniversary. Now what about a commemorative coin?
Mags Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Happy Anniversary to all of us! Great times are ahead of us.
Uriah Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Salute! to Jason, Loft and every member of the 1CGS team..
Rjel Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 It is hard to believe another year has blown by. All in all, the time spent on this website has been great. Lot's of info, anticipation and mostly good times. Now that the early access has started it can only get better. Well done.
Feathered_IV Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 That really did go past quick. Happy first birthday to the team and congratulations on the smoothest development cycle in the last ten years of flight simulation.

WindyCityZeke Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 This next year coming looks very promising!!
Bearcat Posted December 6, 2013 Author Posted December 6, 2013 I highly recommend that any newcomers check out some of the old Developer Diaries and even long time members. I was surprised at some of the things I forgot or overlooked in some of those older DDS including references in DD 27 about the possibility of limited access in the beginning of early access. The first DD is dated 12.14.12. There are 52 weeks in the year and 43 DD's so far .. probably 44 by the time the anniversary of the first one is published.. that means that out of the 52 weeks in the year there were 9 weeks .. where we got no update... 9 weeks. Out of a year... and when I started re reading the updates that we did get .... I just had to take my hat and toss it as far in the sky as I could because just taking it off to the crew was just.. not enough. I see Migs and I-16s in our future.. I see a lot of good stuff coming.. and all those who have been hanging around here for the past year but sitting on the fence will be kicking themselves for not buying in earlier when it was cheaper... and they will still have a blast and not regret one penny spent.
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) I remember the first time Jason posted on a thread in IL2 and offered a 3D model of the TBD devastator that we have in IL2 now. I forget what forum it was but he jumped on and said "Hi, here is a 3d model and I will donate this to your mods. my name is Jason and my company is 777." IL2 got the devastator because 777 gave it to them to add into the patch. 410..4.11 or something. That was my first dealing with a "dev" On many occasions I have posted and spoke with Jason about a few things. He is the only one (a developer who does this, person to person) I have spent more time, and money in Rise Of Flight than I want to admit to the wife and I'm sure BOS will be the must have game of next year. So Happy Anniversary 777/1C and staff! And lets keep it going. Edited December 6, 2013 by Blackwolf 1
Jason_Williams Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Thank you Blackwolf. That's nice of you. The TBD is a long saga and unfortunately, how it is implemented in IL-2 now is a tragedy in my opinion. Jason
Maico Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Very well Said Bear. Congratulations Guys, the baby is born. Maico

Bearcat Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 BoS announced and forum opens up 12/12 ... Early access starts 11/13... Sim release imminent.. 10/14.... Almost two years from announcement to release. Well done Gents. Very well done. You had a plan and you stuck to it pretty much. Some folks aren't happy with everything.. but most folks are happy with much. I have never been one for campaigns and such.. but it looks like I may be doing a lot of things differently when it comes to this sim. I want to try my hand at the campaigns for every aircraft in the sim... whether I intend to fly it afterwards or not. Just to see if I have the patience. Thanks for all your hard work ~!S!~ 3
LastRightsXIII Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 12/12 11/13 10/14 I see a pattern there.

ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Happy Anniversary to all, Thank you to the Dev team, for your hard work Ladies & Gents, thank you. I'm a rubbish pilot, I paid my money, I enjoy the time I get on this sim - it's easily taken over my time from it's elder brother. So that's to its credit and a thank you also to those who have answered my banal questions and pointed me in the right direction, THANK YOU ALL
